    Hi Affinity42,

Your situation sounded very similar to mine. Today I went for a breast ultrasound which showed a small area of concern and then went and got a mammogram which didn't show anything. (I am 25 years old so this could be the reason). I am going for a biopsy on Thursday. I am assuming that you had a lump that was an area of concern? But the doctor said you have fibro cystic breasts? This was a term my gyno used when she was talking about my lump last week but wasn't sure. Did the biopsy results say you had fibro cystic breasts? Sorry just trying to get an idea of what they told you because your situation seems similar to mine. I also have a weird shaped lump.

    Hi Scg,

The mass was found purely by accident as the left "medial" breast has been under surveillance every 6 months via breast ultrasound. My mammogram showed a new area that looked completely different from the other 2 spots that my Dr. has been watching. The new spot is hypoechoic, and spiculated resembling a "starfish". I was relieved after I received the biopsy results because spiculated nodules are fairly suspicious.

That being said. I will add that my Physician stated that fibro cystic breasts are extremely common, and many women have them particularly if their ovaries are still fully functional and releasing hormones.

I hope that helps. If you have any questions about breast biopsy(Ive had 3 now) please feel free to PM me.

Relieved but never "clear" I've been on this roller-coaster since 2014. I pretty much know that every ultrasound will be followed up with biopsy.
