Rose such a gift to be able to spot that beauty in the midst of horrible. So sorry you missed visiting your DD but it sure sounds like you had toi make that decision.
Here is a tiny story for you,
When I was having rads it was in the same room every day.
High tech like the bridge of the starship enterprise and in an underground part of the hosp.
Room would be darkened radiographers would leave me lying on the machine bed looking upwards.
Green lasers in room would illuminate a little spider in its web in the place in the ceiling where some of the lasers were installed.
It was there every day.
Some days that spider was spinning or to me it seemed like dancing.
That spider was among all these lasers and radiation etc, (and being lit up green made it look a bit radioactive).
I would lie there in the midst of the alien and say wow "nature finds a way"
