Pinktober Revolution

Sppokiesmom - how very sad. Divine posted the other day about her having reached the end of treatment options. She was a powerful soul. Her message was strong without uttering a single word in that video.
Bowing my head in praise, grief and prayer for Holley and her loved ones. I'm sure there were many.
Travltxt, if I am not mistaken, has that on the Pinktober sucks site. I think it's on YouTube and we can get it from there. It should be there.
Thank you for sharing Spookiesmom.
-
I have just put Holley's excellent video online HERE.
-
thanks Trvl
-
Jack I agree with Spookie, You are a powerful writer and Divine is too. Perhaps either of you could write a piece. She will be missed.
-
thank you Traveltext!! Holley's video is so important and glad to see in on the site.
-
just watched an informative video on NBC on line about makeup. Said the FDA bans 11 ingredients, the EU over 1300! So to watch for products the "e" on it means less potentially harmful ingredients. Interesting.
-
Spookiesmom - that is TRUE. Amazing isn't it? Ewg, the same non profit that offers the 65,000 + product database called "skindeep" also launched this year some labeling, for companies who choose to participate. I think that might be what you're referring to.
It's called EWG verified.
http://www.ewg.org/ewgverified/
If you are interested, many of the cleaning products in our homes are quite similarly dangerous. EWG's website has a big section on that too.
IT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME THAT WE ALLOW THOUSANDS OF PRODUCTS THAT EUROPE HAS BANNED TO BE ON OUR SHELVES FOR SALE.
Obviously, there are alternatives. There are plenty of gorgeous English, French, German, and other European women who are using product.
You might ask why. It's the money. The lobbying that's allowed, the legal powerlessness and under budgeted FDA. The lack of will on the part of the consumer to demand change. The cosmetics companies not wanting to undergo expensive reformulation and make other changes. The cosmetics companies aren't even required to disclose the ingredients that make up what they decide to include as "fragrance". Often petroleum based, "fragrance" is hiding who knows how many dangerous products.
I try to look at every label, whether it's a personal product or a cleaning product.
While I cannot remember countless names of scientific compounds, if I see the word "fragrance" AT ALL, I do not buy the product. I also look for the above mentioned ewg verified labeling.
Thanks again, Spookiesmom, for keeping the light on this topic.

Spookie and Jackie - this is exactly what the consultants at Ava Anderson Non-Toxic are busy educating people about. Almost as crazy as the fact it is allowed is the fact that so many people are in the dark. The reason the USA keeps those nasty chemicals in our products is because it is allowed and it is cheaper to do so. As long as the general public continues to create demand, they will continue to manufacture that way. Also - did you know that these companies export their products, and when they do so they must meet EU standards. Think about that for a minute. The same companies create their products with harmful chemicals have the ability to produce them without. $$$$$ Vote with your dollars.

Travel, This is Eric V's post from his bio. He wasn't here very long b/c he died. He sought medical help on many occasions, but his docs blew him off. I had occasion to post with Eric and Pm' d. Eric has never left my memory. Perhaps you can read his bio and review his posts. He was a good man. He loved his wife and children as we all do, but he was failed by his docs b/c he was male. Broke my heart.
Eric V--from his BCO bio
Hi everybody! I wish I didn't need to meet you all on here, but I
have decided to post my story in hopes it helps someone else get
correctly diagnosed.I have had a lump near my breast for around
8-10 years. I saw a doctor when it first appeared, and he stated that
it is just a cyst, and to ignore it. I did not feel comfortable with
his call, so
I requested a second opinion. My second opinion said
the exact same thing, so I decided that it was the truth. I was very
wrong.Throughout the years, I have noticed that I was fatigued a
lot, my appetite was always changing, and my back really hurt. While
talking with the 8 doctors I have had over the years, they all said the
same thing as well. It's just a cyst, and your getting old. I am now
35.One day I was wrestling with my 3yr old daughter and kneed me
in the armpit. She ended up hitting my lymph-nodes and it really
hurt. I went to the doctor and demand my lump to be removed (I should
have done that along time ago). When they did an ultrasound before the
surgery, they found multiple lymph nodes were enlarged, up to 7 cm. I
then went for a second opinion and a PET scan.I am officially at
Stage-IV now. I have my tumor, multiple lymph nodes near my tumor. I
have also metastasized to 5 vertebrae, and 4 other lymph nodes
throughout my body. I am also Triple-Negative, and BRCA1/2 negative as
well.If you are a guy reading this, and a doctor
tells you to ignore a lump, please push him to do a biopsy, or remove
it. If your doctor does not want to do it, ask why! It could save
your life!I am trying to start chemo, and I will update this
thread with how that goes. I m currently having issues with platelets, so I haven't started yet.If anyone wants to talk, please let me know. I want to help all of the people out there I can.

Thanks sas, I have been aware of Eric and his all too typical story of medical neglect as a male patient with the disease. Looking through his threads again (saw your posts) I can see he was a lovely, helpful guy, diagnosed at Stage IV and triple neg. Bet his family misses him big time.
-
Tragic. 🙏🏼
-
It is tragic that Eric was ignored by the medical establishment for so long. Double whammy being male and being so young. Definitely need more "awareness" for male BC.
-
Not sure why he came to mind, but I looked on the Angel's thread. His anniversary is tomorrow. Maybe................
-
I'm flabbergasted!!!!
Get out your matching pink tutus and bring your bestie to the next 3day and she can get her airfare paid for by Komen. WTF? Wow. Guess that means even less money for research. Way to Go Komen!
"One free roundtrip coach airfare between the major airport closest to your home and the major airport closest to the 3-Day location."
