Wishing for shrunken cysts, no UTIs, and a really good lawyer!
-
Lee, I can't even imagine what you are going through. Hugs and love and everything, know I will be thinking about you. Don't worry about being a downer, post, rant as much as you want that's what we are all here for. You will get through this one day at a time.
Maureen, sucks so much about your trip. I hope you can reschedule and still have something to look forward to.
I've been in hell too, mom has been taken by ambulance to hospital four times in past two months, and we finally got her in a facility to do evaluation because we think she has dementia onset. She has been calling me every day, like 6-7 times a day saying the craziest, most bizarre stuff. Throwing things, spitting on hospital staff, talking about seeing bugs crawling on people, just insane stuff. So sad.
-
Oh, wow.
Mo, I am so sorry you are not able to take your trip.
Lee: Yes, don't feel bad. We are here for you. In my experience, and I hope I am not out of bounds saying this….'finding oneself' is often code for having an affair. I hate he is being such a douchebag to you. That's so hard to deal with.
-
T- so very sorry about your mom. That must be so hard. Hugs.
Allison- it is so hard to say, but I'm afraid quite often men use the separation/delay strategy to benefit themselves financially. Without knowing, and certainly without passing judgement, it is certainly possible, and I therefore encourage the engagement of a good lawyer sooner rather than later. It it works out in the end, I'd be delighted. If not, at least there is some protection.
-
My most recent theory is, not many people leave a long term relationship unless there is someone else waiting in the wings.
-
On another note, has anyone had a blocked tear duct? I seem to recall Diane maybe? Does anyone know if this is fixable?
-
My ophthalmologist's office suggested this strategy before considering surgery:
- Use Systane Balance drops 4 x a day.
- "Melt" the blockage by putting a warm compress on the eyes several times a day. (Like a buckwheat beanbag that's been heated in the microwave.)
-
I will try it. Thanks. I think it will be hard getting into the ophthalmologist. She is always booked.
-
Lee...I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I can't even imagine what you must be going through. But like others have said come here to vent, we are all here for you. I will be praying for you.
Theresa...sorry to hear about your mom. Dementia is sad and hard to deal with for all involved.

Lee-I feel for you and what you're going through. Sending love and strength
Theresa-My mother had Alzheimer10 yrs. Early on she told us she was hit by a baseball at a minor league game. Sounded perfectly rational otherwise. This was just the start of many painful years of watching her slip away. I'm so sorry your family is going through this. The only advice I can give is to meet her where she is... Sending warm thoughts
Allison-Yes I have a blocked tear duct. The optho can't open it up. I've been on steroid drops for months. Also had me use lid scrub..you can get them at Walgreens or any pharmacy..also warm compresses and Systane drops during the day. The left eye bothered me too and it has improved. The right is the one that still tears and when I went back he tried again to open it up. Said to stop the drops, ordered Restasis Rx drops, continue lid wipes and warm compresses. Hopefully your optho can do a procedure in the office to make the opening a little bigger and yours will improve. Try getting the lid wipes, using warm compresses and Systane lubricating drops. Hope this helps
-
Allison-You may have a much better outcome. Mine was blocked because of scar tissue from the taxotere. Hope I didn't freak you out..I reread your post.
-
Weird, my oncologist said they can put a stent there and open it up if necessary. Cheryl has one wonky eye, she said Claritin helps her. My eye issue resolved on its own (I think)
-
I hope the tear duct issue can be fixed. That must be uncomfortable and annoying.
Tina, Sorry you are having to deal with the Alzheimers with your mom. That has to be so hard.
-
the opthalmologist did say ssurgical intervention was an option but not yet. Here is the name of the lid scrub I'm using
-
i took a weekend trip and returned to heavy news. Thinking of you Lee and Theresa while life keeps throwing you these blows. Remember this group for any ranting or support needs, we'll be here for you.
-
Lee, I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. I have no words of wisdom, only hugs.
-
Hugs for all those with heavy burdens. No claims to wisdom here, but I am thinking of you.
DH went in for his ultrasound this morning. They were running behind, so I won't hear about results until late today when he comes home. He felt fairly good over the weekend, but had a much less severe episode on Saturday night. He has had kidney stones a few times over the past few years as well, so maybe he will migrate toward eating more of what I eat. I am following a low fat, low calorie plant based diet right now, and it is designed to induce ketosis as well. Since starting in December (though I didn't eliminate all animal products until recently) I have lost almost 20 pounds, and have done so including the Christmas season, where socializing meant not controlling the menu much of the time, while feeling well. I "cook twice" as DH continues to eat meat every day. I am feeling well and satisfied eating mostly legumes, veg and fruit. I suspect that he will have to cut down on fats to address the gall bladder problem, and cut down on meats to prevent further kidney stones.
Gentle hugs to all. -
Sending love to all today.

Just came back from my gynie visit. The ovary has shrunk. Still a little enlarged, but nothing like how it was. I'm not going under his knife just yet.

I'm so sorry Lee!
I've had a really rough couple of days and I'm finally feeling decent enough to to get online. I had Herceptin and iron (injectofer) infusion on Friday. Sat I started with severe body pain and yesterday was even worse. Also I had a fever of 100.4 and a BP of 85/53. Finally starting to feel better.
Apparently, I'm one of the 5% that gets this kind of reaction with the iron. Yay me! I'm supposed to have the second infusion this Friday and I just don't know if I can handle it again.
I thought this shit was over but apparently not. At least it's getting better but the doc said it could last up to 5 days
