Pants after DIEP

Hi all,

I want to apologize if this is not the correct forum to post this and will post it elsewhere if that is appropriate. Also, I realize it is a mundane question, but I have always found all questions were welcome here.

My DIEP was originally done in 2010, followed by a few revisions. One thing I have heard other women complain about is trouble finding jeans. I find if I go high waisted, they roll or slide down and if I go mid-rise, they still slide down. It gets annoying pulling them up frequently. I feel like I need suspenders.

Can anyone tell me if they found jeans that work? Suggested brands, rise or other solutions?

Thanks.

I have found 'Jones' brand seem to fit and stay up! They are higher wasted though.

My surgery is in a couple of months, so I'm trying to figure all this out. What exactly happens with our bodies that makes jeans so difficult? I know the scar presents issues for quite some time, but it sounds like you're talking longer-term than that.

    Hi CarolinaAmy,

I am very happy with my results and would still recommend it to any woman who had a mastectomy and radiation. My implant failed because of the radiation and that is why I then did the DIEP flap.

My trouble with pants is not because of the scar. My stomach is larger above the scar and so pants naturally slide to the thinnest part. No worries, just a nuisance. I was just curious if any woman had suggestions for brands or styles that work better.

    Good luck with your surgery!

    Patti

I am so glad someone else can relate to this issue. I must have 40 pair of pants and jeans that don’t stay up. I find myself wearing black yoga pants mostly from Champion. They stay up and are comfy. If anyone else has suggestions Id love to hear. It is a real dilemma as the upper belly is larger then the lower so pants and underwear slide down.
