Metastatic Pleural Disease
Hello,
It's been 6 years since my breast cancer and I thought I was out of the woods. I still can't believe it....
So here goes, my journey started with a dry cough that wouldn't go away. The CT scan findings were suspicious for pleural and pulmonary metastatic disease. This of course set in motion a variety of tests (which all came back clean). A biopsy confirmed that it was positive for carcinoma cells and that it was consistent with the my original breast cancer.
My MO has recommended 6 rounds of Taxotere, and I started my treatment last Wednesday. Today was the first day that I actually put on clothes!!!
I guess I'm looking for hope, I've been really depressed and debating if I should try anti-depressants. Ativan can only do so much.
And this cough, it's still there. I was hoping that maybe with the first round of treatment it would subside, I'm so tired of barking. I was wondering, for those that have had lung mets and have gone through chemo, does the cough ever go away?

I'm sorry you've ended up with lung mets. I have too- nodules in lung & pleural mets (to lining).
There is a thread about lung mets. It's not active atm but may be good to read thru.

Hope that helps. An antidepressant is a good idea, many people find it helps. The chemo may well get rid of your cough.
I had a dry cough for a bit & it did go. I'm now ontaxol weekly & it's going ok. I hope taxotere does the trick for you

Thanks kt1966 for the link, I'll check it out!

You may want to post your question in the stage IV forum which is very active and might get more replies. I hope you get some answers!!!

Yes, definitely join us in the stage IV section if you wish!
There may be a taxotere thread too, not sure.
Hope things are getting better for you
This thread may help too

Thanks Kbeee and kt1966 for your input, it's much appreciated.
this all happened so suddenly, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I still haven't been really able to wrap my head around everything but I'll get there.

I was wondering how you were doing. I am 11 years out and it was just stage one Er/PR + HER-. I had a lumpectomy, radiation and 5 years of Arimidex. I have been dealing with a hacking cough for weeks. I am very afraid. Please let me know how you are.

Sflow
My oncologist once told me, "let me do the worrying for you.". so dont fret. If its been longer than 3 weeks you should be checked. Ans remember, the doctor works for you. You pay his salary, so go get checked out.
I pray all is fine. Keep us posted
