Happy New Years ladies,
Loving the birds and flowers and the precious little one all wrapped in lights. I am at my mom's for three weeks and have been dealing with a flooded basement in the torrential rain that went on for three days. I haven't been out much to shoot for quite a few weeks. I was able to get out a little yesterday and today.
I saw some very unusual markings on the ducks. Obviously some cross breeding going on.
-
I never saw a duck that color. I think you are right. I had to get some ions today.
-
Lisa, I will have to live through you vicariously with all the beautiful ocean pics. This little pond near my mom's had the most unusual colored ducks there. There were mallards, and white ducks and Canada geese all sharing this tiny space. I tried to count one day and there were maybe 75 ducks on this little pond. I drove by after the deep freeze and all the Canada geese were gone. I think they have co-mingled to produce some very pretty and unusual marked ducks. I haven't had a chance to pursue much with the greeting cards. I was at my mom's for three weeks as I go and stay with her as she deals with dementia. I am dealing with several health issues that may require surgery so I haven't really had the time to pursue this endeavor as I wanted to. I still want to though. Hope your arm is better now.
-
I have to have another surgery on my arm on Monday...One screw is completely out and another is backing out...so they were meant to be permanent but those two will have to come out...one is catching on my muscles, nerves etc. At least I have been able to take photos with one hand. The walking part is a little difficult...Hope you are doing better..
-
Lisa, that is too bad about the screws coming out. It is amazing what they can do but when things do not do what they are supposed to do it becomes a real burden to have to go through another surgery. I have a plate in my neck from a surgery and I have no idea what is holding it in place. I am having my second biopsy on my thyroid. There is a possibility that I have thyroid cancer. I keep growing more nodules which is not good. There is a good chance that I will have to have the whole thyroid removed whether it is cancerous or not. I am having some knee issues too and that could be a possible surgery too. My photography teacher just published his book that he has worked on for many years of his photography mainly in the natural prairies around Chicagoland. He was always very secretive about these places in his classes but he has totally revealed these places even with maps to find them in his book. I am anxious to explore some of these places as I have never heard of most of them. Hoping to get a new camera in the near future too.
I will be thinking of you and hope that your surgery goes well. I was on a three week stay with my mom as a part time caregiver for her. Her basement flooded and it was pretty much a nightmare because there is no resolution until things dry out. I just got home on Monday night and trying to get my head back in my routine with my lap swimming and waiting to see what my near future will hold.
What kind of bird is that? You got a great shot. Hope things go well for you and it is a quick recovery.
-
Lisa prayers for your surgery will be thinking about you tomorrow. Bandwoman prayers for your biopsy and knee.
Scottie
-
Thanks Scottie. My knee is on hold with the doctor right now. I have decided to do nothing until my thyroid situation is dealt with. How are you doing?
-
Lisa, i love that egret and it's reflection. Gorgeous shot.
-
Bandwoman. . .I'm currently waiting biopsy results from my upper E-scope and trying to de-stress while working long hours. I have not had much time for my photography but I have to major events coming up next month. Our church is hosting one of the Tim Tebow Night to Shine proms (for special needs) on 2/12 and our kids' school has their annual winter ball later next month. I will be photographing both of these events.
Lisa, hope the surgery went well.

Dec 30 - White bird in the water, what kind of bird is that? Picture perfect!
-
About the white bird in the water, great egret it's the one with the yellow bill. The other one with a black bill is a snowy egret.
Scottie, thinking of you. ..
Surgery for me is Monday.
-
I like everything about that picture, the reflection, the colors, the reeds in front and rocks Behind and the nice bright colored beak. The lighting and the composition
-
Thanks,
-
I just had to have some ocean air today..one side of the street ocean, the other, march
-
It has almost been 2 years since my last chemo treatment for TNBC. This past year I was able to meet my Canadian sisters from the "In Shock" blog and then on the very last night of the year I fulfilled my Bucket List Dream..To see the Aurora Borealis…from Yellowknife, NWT, Canada.
-
momof2,what a sight. Wow.
-
Lisa, thinking about you for your surgery tomorrow. Love the ocean pics. What is that cute little bird? Love the egrets.
Momo, love your norther lights. Awesome.
Scottie, hope you get good biopsy results. Waiting is always stressful. I was hoping to take the Photoshop classn in Feb. I had prepaid last year but I will have to wait now with my thyroid issues. My biopsy is on Jan. 28.
-
momof2. . .I'm fascinated by the Aurora Boreialis and it's on my photography list. I've been following a Scottish photographer from the Highlands and he got some absolutely amazing photos of the lights over Eilean Donan castle last year. I bought one of his prints.
