Should I be concerned?

Options

I have a 3 month follow up with my oncologist next Friday (a week from today), but am concerned and wondering if I should try for an earlier appointment. I'm 2 years out from dx, and recently noticed a small round hard bump under the skin on my chest, about 2 inches below my port incision scar. The initial lump was on the opposite side.

My siggy should indicate I had BMX and now have silicon implants. My skin is very thin. The bump doesn't feel stuck in one place but is totally freaking me out. It appears to be superficial, but definitely under the skin.

Any thoughts? What else could it be?

I don't know what it could be, but if you're getting all freaked out about it maybe you can call on Monday as see if they can move your appointment up 2-3 days.

Orion, I have a tiny bump under the skin near my port scar too. I noticed it after my port came out--I'm sure it's a leftover suture knot, maybe with some scar tissue clumped around it. It's been there now for years and I only remembered it when I read your post.

Hopefully your onc can reassure you. From what you describe it doesn't sound sinister.

it may be scar tissue or a suture grandma but the only way to know for sure is to get it evaluated. Sorry you are dealing with this stress

Thanks ladies for your replies and encouragement. I was able to move up my oncology appointment (it's today at 1pm) and I'm seeing my breast surgeon tomorrow at 11:15 to get the lump/bump removed. I saw my plastic surgeon on Monday and she could have removed it, but she was more comfortable with my original cancer team giving the primary care in this case (she did not do my reconstruction but is who I'm following up with). The bump is really close to the surface, so I'm pretty confident the surgeon will be able to remove the whole thing in the office and send it out for pathology. We shall see!
