ER-/PR 2%+/HER2 equivocal even after FISH

SOooooooo I don't seem to fit in anywhere! These pathology results have no clear "answers" to figure out which way to go! I may or may not be considered a candidate for the HER2+ pre surgery chemo based on research this morning.

Is it possible they would do ANOTHER biopsy and take more samples for testing? I am stage 1 and grade 3. The first surgeon I saw last week is ready to get me in surgery ASAP and wants to have me on her schedule when my genetic testing results come in versus wait to get them first then put me on her schedule 2 weeks after that. It will be 2-3 weeks for the genetic results. (I had the bloodwork drawn Tuesday afternoon Jan 19th).

My initial biopsy was Jan 11th and it took 10 days for the HER2 results to be completed (IHC and FISH) IHC was inconclusive as well. I knew about my need for a biopsy on NOVEMBER 30th after diagnostic mammo and ultra sound results. Waited til after the new year for biopsy. The surgeon says they only look at the date it was diagnosed/biopsy date. They didn't remeasure the tumor to compare growth in the 5-6 weeks which has me a bit concerned. It was 1.3cm almost 2 months ago. At this rate I'll be stage 2 before anything gets decided!!!

I am hoping to see a 2nd surgeon on Friday morning (she won't meet with you till all of your pathology results are in).

Can't seem to find anyone with these ER/RP/HER2 and is 2% PR positive really significant to be +???

Thanks for listening to my mini freak out......that's what happens when you wake up at 5am and decide to check your patient chart and see the results finally appeared. I had not heard back from the nurse navigator yesterday evening. She said she was calling the lab back to check the status of my HER2 FISH because they had told her it would be ready Wednesday. @ 4pm they were still not reported in the system. I now have results but no answers!

    I am most certainly not a doctor, but I am also HER2 equivocal, and I have been told that they will rerun my HER2 test after surgery. The HER2 test is a tricky one and isn't always accurate, the bigger the sample tissue the better the results. So I like the sound of the surgeon who wants to do your surgery right away. Go get it, then get firm pathology reports back and you'll know! The only drawback is whether any of your unanswered questions are needed to help you decide which type of surgery to have. You don't want to rush into one type of surgery, only to find out you need another surgery because you didn't do everything you needed to do. Be sure you have all the information you need to decide either lumpectomy or mastectomy.

    I met with a 2nd surgeon today and they must have done additional FISH testing because it took longer to get my results back. Now it is negative for the HER2. So they are going to treat me as triple negative. I meet with the oncologist Wednesday then a team of all the doctors the next Wednesday 2/3. The plan is chemo then surgery
