Hello

I'm sending this because my aunt has just received a bc diagnosis, we don't have all the info (really any) yet, she was just called with biopsy results, she was so shaken she did not ask the right questions, all I know so far is the dr who was the family dr told her it was the most common type they see, not really any info

My question is this her mammogram which was in Dec showed 2 what the radiologist referred to as "large" solid tumors, they were both malignant, she asked how did they get so large when I have a mammo every year and the radiologist thought it strange as well, any ideas or has this simply been "missed"

Thanks

I'm sorry your aunt has to go through this but rest assured you will find plenty of support here. My tumor was also missed on mammogram and ultrasound for ~5 years. An MRI picked it up instantly though. The final size was barely 3.0cm, and it had gone to one lymph node only. Sometimes a larger tumor can be slow growing, like mine, and sometimes a very small tumor can be aggressive. The hardest part is the wait. In the meantime, I wouldn't try googling every possible outcome, you'll drive yourself crazy! I wish your aunt the best going forward and keep us posted.
