Oncotype DX testing
my oncotype testing result is pending. I had a mastectomy for IDC and had one positive node. Most of what I read is test is only good for node negative. Anyone else in my boat. Test will determine if I have to have chemo or not

Pilgrim- There is a large clinical trial in progress that is hoping to further confirm what smaller studies have shown. That is the oncotype test can be used in node positive women. http://www.swog.org/Visitors/S1007/treatment.asp I'm not sure if the study(Rxsponder or SWOG 2007) is still recruiting. If it is, it might be something to consider participating in. Many MOs are willing to order the test & use it to help guide treatment. Sounds like yours is.
My positive node tumor had an oncotype score of "4". So, I skipped chemo. The chemo decision was left up to me. I'm not a "throw everything even the kitchen sink at it" kind of person. My cancer had some other favorable characteristics. Grade 1, less than 2cm, low oncotype
Hope you get your results soon, so you can get a treatment plan in place.

I had one positive node, no chemo, 1.4 cm of cancer in node.....1.2 cm in breast

Thanks so much, I did read about the study. Sounds like our story is similar.

I had a 4mm node, oncotype 15. No LVI or node extension. I decided to skip chemo and go on Tamoxifen for at least a year and then swtich to an aromatase inhibitor. The RxPonder trial that Coraleliz mentioned is closed now. It allowed women with up to 3 nodes and an oncotype of up to 25 to enroll. The oncotype gives good information, but your pathology is important too. I had a mitotic index of 1, which means my cells are slow growing. If it was fast growing, like grade 3, I wouldn't have based my decision entirely on the oncotype. Wishing you the best going forward!

Moving this thread to the Chemo forum. Thanks!

How are you doing? Re-visiting this site since my Oncologist told me to stop taking Anastrozole this week (it has been 5 years).
Feels like I am letting go of a crutch. My Oncotype was 14. I had one positive node. He advised NO Chemo, only Anastrozole for
5 years.
Hope all is well.
