Hi all, San Antonio in the fall works for me. Just give me the dates.

Yesterday did 1 hour Leslie Sansone and then did 80 minute Bone Builders classes. Slept like a baby last night! Walked in MLK parade today but it was only about 2 miles round trip. Those wimps, the others in the group I was with rode in their (about 15) cars. My sister and I walked behind the 2 guys walking carrying the banner. But if I was in temps like many of you, I would have been in my car as well!

    Night sculpted friends.

Holy Cow, Patoo. That is ALOT of exercise!

Today, I went with a friend to a Wildlife Sanctuary and walked about 3 hours. I am not sure how far that was, but I am pooped tonight!

    Hi ladies!

Ruth-Yikes 36 below sounds cold, burr! We have been in the 70s here, which has been enjoyable for exercise.

Kindergarten- San Antonio is a beautiful city, especially the Riverwalk. I would definitely meet everyone there. It sounds like you have something like what I have been trying to shake, lots of coughing.

Patoo-You are putting us all to shame! Exercise definitely helps me sleep better, so I am sure you'll sleep great tonight too.

Today I walked w/ my DH with the dogs at the walking trail. It was a beautiful day, except for the gusts of wind.

I've visited San Antonio for a week in the summer back in 2010 and enjoyed it. Stayed at the Hyatt on Market St. and got a reasonable rate, plus within walking distance of what was on offer. Booked on a tai chi instructors course in February with friend Jen, pink Pilate's partner. She is going to teach tai chi in a prison, and I want to learn it, and, will help my BB, so off we go.

Taught yesterday morning and thinking of going in this afternoon to practice added scripting and take a swim and steam. Very cold here, but no snow down our way -yet.

I chatted with my sister yesterday and was shocked to learn that her husband's doctor wants him to increase walking to 15 minutes a day! Silly me asked what the problem is, and her answer was that he's too out of shape to do this. I can't imagine. I also realize that it's unlikely that either one of them will ski or snowshoe again. (My sister does work out every day....goes to the gym early while her husband is sleeping in.)

I did a 5k run and another 5k of walking while doing errands yesterday. Plus a lot of sitting getting a jump on some of the work I need to get out.

Hoping to get to the mountains and get in some skiing tomorrow. Friends for dinner this evening, so clean and sculpt on the agenda on top of my run. Serving a pasture-raised chicken that I dragged back 22 miles on my bicycle back in October. Made the trip just fine as was frozen.

Have a wonderful day ladies! - Claire

Yesterday was like coming out of the fog after a long week getting my new treatment plan together. I began oral chemo (a Phase 2 clinical trial) and will likely have surgery next week.

DH and I did our errands by foot yesterday, which was only about a 3-4 miles roundtrip walk, but it was nice to get out in the sunshine. Then we we to the bar and played darts and pool while watching football.

My body scans are officially clear, so I am encouraged that the fairly drastic measures (clinical trial, ovarian suppression+AI) I took with initial treatment at least cleared me out below the neck. And although I was no exercise warrior during treatment, I did train for and complete a 5K open water swim and started cycling (with brain mets too! And I never lost my balance!) so maybe that helped as well.

Claire, as saddened as I was the VP Biden and family had suffered another devastating loss, I did wonder at the time if Beau Biden's death would help push cancer research towards the front of national policy. It'll be interesting to see how things play out.

This wasn't very well known, but last fall, this happened (http://cultofperfectmotherhood.com/action-alert-al...). I sent a slew of emails myself...not knowing in a few short months, it would affect me on such a more personal level.

I am very sad to hear that slowdeepbreaths is going through a difficult time. Back in my early days here, when I was worried that my neoadjuvant chemo wasn't working, she gave me a lot of comfort. Love and hugs to her.

    Hi BadAtUserNames,

I am so glad you are moving forward with treatment. PLEASE insist that they test and do genomic profiling on the tumor tissue. The second generation tests are much more informative, and this could open up a host of new treatment possibilities for you. My guess is that the chemo cleared cancer in your body from the neck down, but failed to cross the blood-brain barrier.

For Cancer MoonShot 2020, they are looking for patients like you. I am so glad that Joe Biden is harnessing his own personal tragedy to make a meaningful and sustained difference in this world. My own belief is that we now have the science, informatics, and treatment options available to move forward rapidly. This would not have been possible even 5 years ago.

Former President Carter is the new poster child for this initiative.

I am sure that exercise has helped you, if for nothing besides making you strong enough to pursue additional treatment.

Which reminds me that I have been sitting all morning and the rain is letting up. Time to hit the trail and do my 5k. - Claire

Dear Bad at User Names, so happy to hear that your scans are clear, prayers for new treatment to kick that cancer to the curb! Yes, SlowDeepBreaths, is such a kind and wonderful lady! I was so sad to hear of her health problems.

Hoping to get down to the gym tomorrow!!

Glad that your scans are clear, Bad. Makes going forward a little easier anyway.

It is so, so cold here. I did a walking DVD & am now going to do some pilates. On Tuesday DH and I take off for 10 days in Arizona, which will be a wonderful break from the cold....can't wait to be walking outside, reading outside, drinking coffee outside, eating outside.....whoo hoo!!

We do have a 2016 Road Trip place and date. We are going to San Antonio October 21-27. Badger's mom has a time share at the Wyndham Resorts which she very generously lets us use, so if you come your lodging will be free (you will probably will be sharing a room, if not a bed, with one of us, so you have to be flexible about all those kinds of things). We have had a great time every year, no matter where we go (we bring the fun Happy), so think about it and see if it would work into your schedule. When I get back at the end of the month, I will start doing a little more planning & put together an email group of travelers so we can 'talk' back and forth as we plan etc. (I am not going to have time while on vacation because I will be too busy basking in the sun......but I imagine we would want a firm commitment by later this spring (maybe April?) so that when theater schedules come out we can book tickets if there is a show we want to see, and if there are other things that need reservations we can get them too.)

*edited to add that if you can't come for the full time, if it works to come for part of it, that would be awesome too

Okay, I better go do the pilates since I already put it down.

Ruth....I'll look at the dates and see if I can make it for part of the time. The Jewish Holidays all fall in October, so not sure If I can manage it, but maybe for the week-end if there is a week-end included in the dates. Plenty of time to plan.

    Ruth....have a great trip.

I may have use of a condo in the mountains if people would ever want to come to Colorado. Its only a small 2 bedroom and no amenities, but its near everything...hiking, bike riding, skiing in the winter....but I love it in the summer and fall.

karen, would love to have you if you can make it for a few days. Do you have access to the condo every year? If so we can keep it in mind for another trip. Very excited about San Antonio - yippee! October gives me plenty of time to save for incidentals (like wine!)

Yes, I have access to the condo every years, but dates vary. It is a small 2 bedroom with 1 bathroom with living room and kitchen. The back bedroom has a double bed, The front bedroom has a queen bed, and two twin beds...so 6 people can sleep on beds and then there is the sofa or the floor!!!

I will check dates for San Antonio. Maybe I can do the first week-end. I generally don't work Fridays. It is so far off....I don't plan that far in advance as when I have its come back to bite me you know where!!!

1/17- lovely sunday surrender yoga class for one hour.

I have been wanting to become certified as a yoga teacher for awhile now. The yoga studio I am going to is going to be offering teacher training on the weekend starting this spring and not sure the timing is right with my work (would have me spending my weekends doing that on top of a busy work schedule), but want to explore the idea of doing this eventually and teaching yoga at one of the cancer centers here town once a week. There is a bc survivor who teaches yoga to cancer patients that I learned about through my bc office, and perhaps could fill me in on what special training that might entail. Not sure I am ready yet, but perhaps something to work towards?

Jazzy, great goal for personal fulfilment and giving back to the bc community.

    Namaste'Heart

Karen, love CO! Lived there for 10 years. Wyndham has TS resorts in Durango, Avon, Estes, Granby, Pagosa and Steamboat. Would love to vacation there. The issue is ground transpo for ~6 people. We either need a nearby airport w/hotel shuttle, or access to wheels such as local driver or car rental. San Antonio (airport code SAT) has non-stop flights in from Minneapolis, Chicago, Baltimore, Orlando, and San Diego, just to name a few, and is eight miles from the resort which most likely has a shuttle.

Spending some time at the new house today. Darn plumber hasn't shown up yet and everyone is waiting on him. Only so many times we can call to bug him or it becomes counter-productive. He knows he needs to get over there but it's super cold here and if someone has an emergency he will triage and our job gets bumped. Like Judge Marilyn Milian says, "Good, fast, cheap: pick two." She's from a family of contractors so that's sound advice.

Badger, if people came to CO and I could get the condo, I have an old Suburban that fits 8 people!!! But that's a lot of "ifs".

I believe there are direct flights to SAT from Denver. was looking at fares for just the week-end as that is all I could manage and they are about $350. Of course I would never buy a ticket this far out!!

Badger, hope the plumber shows up soon. WE build our first house many years ago (1979) and I said I would never do it again. Of course I was only there one or two times (when frame was put up and then day before we moved in) as I was finishing up my MS degree. But after I got over the shock of how small it was, it was my favorite house.

Jazzy, I am sure you would be an awesome yoga instructor.

Karen, don't sell the Suburban 'cause you never know where we will end up next!

Did yoga this morning & some weights & will do Zumba tonight. I now have to make myself get started on one of my least favorite activities, which is packing......

Ditto on not selling the Suburban. We are so flexible we can't possibly break! Badger, sorry about the plumber delay. I understand emergencies but it can be frustrating. Karen, I am building a house and got to go inside the frame and the rooms look so small. May have to put a cot in my master bedroom and sell my BR set . I know it looks smaller with no furniture but still...Jazzy, that's a great goal. Nice to plan and have something to look forward to.

Another march (walk) in MLK parade this morning and have banquet a little later so that's the extent of my exercise for today. Need to do something incredible (like exercise for 6 hours and don't eat at all) tomorrow for our Wednesday weigh-in thread!

We were at the house working and the plumber showed up YAY. He wrote my phone number on the bathroom wall LOL that's a first, to my knowledge anyway. New bath should be stubbed in (fingers crossed) tomorrow. Electrical is ready for inspection too so once the city says OK we're ready to rock & roll.

I'll be out of town on business the next few days so catch up with y'all probably Sat. ♥

Badger: LOL about your number on the bathroom wall!

    Odie: Happy Belated Belated Birthday!

Ruth: Have a great trip and enjoy the sun!

Hi Everybody! It has finally turned cold here. We even had a dusting of snow yesterday which turned to rain which turned to partly cloudy. I've been exercising everyday, including today.

No plans to sell the Suburban. It is a 1999 and right now my youngest daughter drives it. Next year when she is gone it will not get driven very much but its a great car!!

Its nice having today off. Took my mother to the Dollar Store....she loves it but doesn't get to go often. Her mobility is very limited and she no longer can really walk any amount with her walker but uses a motorized scooter. It is hard to take it apart and put in my car, so Mom agreed to use a wheelchair. This is really a major milestone for her. In the past she has said no, so I was very proud of her. It was nice to be able to take her out. It is so hard anymore to get her in and out of the car and go places so I usually just visit at her apt. Once in a while she comes to my house for dinner.

Think I need to go for a walk. A bco sister who I met over 5 years ago in person after meeting here, lost her battle with stage IV last night. I had spent two different week-ends with her in Israel, most recently this past summer. I'm just heart broken.
