The proposed weekend isn't great for me, so I'd vote for a different one. I'm also concerned about getting stuck in snow.

I will check my calendar when I get home.

Appointment went well. I will know full blood panel results tomorrow, but today all was normal except low white count, which is common. He is fine with me just following up with Gyn on bleeding. Next appointment is in 3 months. I will see BD then MO and will have breast MRI scheduled. My MO is so fabulous; best doc I have ever seen for anything

leigh. If suits you. I foind it quite empowering once I threw the head covering.

I've been camping. I'm home again now.

Andrew is still slowly moving out! He doesn't want to move. So I feel so stuck. I don't want to be mean, but this is taking months!

I thought I was doing OK about my ABUS (automated breast ultrasound ) on Monday but I'm starting to freak out. Fuck I hate this. I'm trying to get my butt moving to keep me occupied.

The heat has made my lymphoedema worse. My hand looks like a blown up glove. 😢 I'm a bit over it. Does anyone have any tips?

Back to work on Tuesday. I think it's a good thing.

Sue58, I'm interested in Chicagoland get-together too. I'm up for suburbs, but not sure I'd make it to Chicago. I'm quite flexible time-wise.

Sharon, Bowie is so adorable! I know that if you say it's hot, it's really hot. Do you have any opportunities to be in a cooler environment, even for a short time? I know that when I was living in PNG, we had one room in our house that was air conditioned, and it was heavenly to spend an hour or two out of the heat. I don't know if it really helps, but I spend time lying on my left side with my right (LE) arm at full extension, stretching over my ear. Actually, I stretch obsessively, probably 30-40 times a day. My therapist suggested not only passive stretching, but even to add traction. She suggested finding a high shelf or piece of furniture to almost "hang" from, to increase the stretch. My cording has resolved, and she thinks that the stretching is a big help. (I'm also making progress in getting my weight down, but I have quite a way to go before I reach my goal.) The sensation of being swollen is so unpleasant, but very difficult to describe. My lymphedema has been pretty much under control recently, even with added weight training, but I wear my glove and sleeve 12 hours a day, and I feel best if I also have some truncal compression all the time. My hand and arm are not blown up right now, but my armpit area just never feels right. I do hope that I can "graduate" to just wearing a gauntlet someday - the glove really affects my dexterity.

It is hard to be in limbo with Andrew. I hope that resolves soon.

OK, Chicago-bound friends. Please send me proposed dates if you have restrictions. May or June is fine as well. I'm totally flexible....

I found lump myself and I just knew what it was. I don't know what to think about accuracy of mammograms/US/MRI. About 18 months prior I had my first ever mammogram and it showed some suspicious areas in the other breast that they wanted me to follow up on and hounded me with letters and phone calls. It had a bad birads score but I didn't understand and just ignored the calls. Funny thing that they hounded me about the breast that on MRI didn't show anything and I found the lump myself in the other breast that they said was clear. I am very reluctant to go in for mammogram of remaining breast.

My surgeon wouldn't place a port as she said I was too thin and it would just erode out halfway through chemo. Just went the IV route, which wasn't awful though I did get a chemo burn where IV infiltrated and don't even want to think about state of my veins after seeing what the chemo did to my arm where it leaked out of the IV.

Sorry for the run on sentences. Wish I could meet everyone in person.

Thinking of Katie today and sending good vibes.

Neverthought - too thin for a port? Never heard of that. I'm 100 lbs and yes, it is obvious and sticks out of my chest like a beacon but I don't understand how it would erode? Doesn't make sense to me. Sorry your veins had to go through all that :

I am also very thin and had a port. My MO will not do AC without it. I did do TC without it last time, and I also had it leak into tissue and caused quite a burn.

Katy, Hope all is going well today!

Sharon, I'm sorry you are dealing with Andrew issues. Once we decided we were needing a break or whatever I moved w/in 3 days. It's better that way. It has to be hard to be apart but in the same place. Sending you hugs.

Dearest ones: thanks for your support and good wishes today. The procedure went well and I did mostly fine. A bit nervous bit it's over so fast! Tired now but at the first post op check 3 hrs after already seeing 20-25. Was attended by wonderful and familiar nurses at the short stay (for pre op BMX, port, and deport). I know them too well

Having a bit of a rest now. Jack in charge of therapy.

    xoxo to all

ok - freak out over. It never occurred to me to not take OTC stuff w/o first checking drug interactions w/ tamoxifen. I've been all about the Mucinex for days now trying to fend off this stupid cold and cough. Nothing found but I had a few minutes of panic.

Eileen, There are a lot of drugs that do not play nice with Tamoxifen. Diphenhydramine (Benedryl) is in a lot of cold and allergy medicines. There are others too, but that's a common one. I think grapefruit is questionable too, though there seems to be debate about that.

I am not giving up grapefruit.

Neither my MO or ND thinks the occasional grapefruit is a problem.

I do have diphenhydramine in my emergency medical kit. If I get stung by something, I'll be more worried about keeping swelling down than about a couple of hours of maybe blocking the full bioavailability of Tamoxifen.

Katy, so happy to hear from you! Happy driving! I am having same coming up soon and am so nervous. Did you get one eye corrected for far vision and one for near?

Thanks Karen and Bekah sharing about ports. I wondered what they use for children, right? A lot of people don't have a lot of meat on their bones, so I didn't understand why surgeon said no. They only offered a PICC line which I just couldn't see how I could cope with on my own, especially as it would have been in my right arm and I am right handed. How would I ever flush it? Really, really hoping I never have to worry about this issue ever again. I hope none of us do.
