MRI guided biopsies

My MRI came back today indicating some other smaller spots in my left breast in addition to the 2 tumors of approx 2 cm each. It also indicated a small 4 mm spot in the right breast. I'm scheduled for an MRI assisted biopsy next week for the new discoveries. Can anyone tell me what to expect?

Also, is there any chance the MRI can miss something? I'm really not in the mood for more bad news today

I think I've read that MRIs only have a 3% to 5% false negative but lots of false positives

I had an MRI guided biopsy, and to be honest, it wouldn't have been all that bad if my own anxiety hadn't got the better of me. It didn't take as long as my original MRI. The doctor who did the biopsy talked to me while he was doing it, and the biopsy part itself didn't seem to take long at all. If you are anxious about it (and you probably are,) let them know ahead of time--like tomorrow--that you are, and that you'd like something for anxiety before the biopsy. I did, and they obliged, it's just that what they gave me didn't do much lol--they kept giving me more pills and coming in to ask me if I was getting drowsy (I wasn't,) and they finally even parked me in a mostly darkened and quiet room on my own for a while to see if I'd get drowsy and/or fall asleep. I didn't. I finally just told them to go ahead and do the thing because my poor husband had been waiting waiting waiting all that time. So yeah, I sort of had a panic attack in the middle of the MRI-only part of it, but forced myself to hold still and just deal with it til it was over....which really upset the nurses when they got me out of the MRI machine and saw that I was crying and finally allowing myself to shake lol. But yeah, it was pure anxiety, and NOT due to any major pain from the biopsy or anything like that. In retrospect, it really wasn't all that bad. For context, I'd already had an MRI and an ultrasound assisted core needle biopsy on my left breast, and the MRI guided biopsy was for some suspicious spots in my right breast. The MRI guided biopsy results were negative.

I have had MRI's but not biopsies. When I was first diagnosed, an MRI picked up additional suspicious areas in my breast. Since I had already decided to have an MX, I decided to not bother with biopsies as they didn't change my treatment plan. You can request a larger MRI machine which helps with anxiety/claustrophobia though doesn't solve it. Some places have open MRI machines. I did this for my most recent MRI and it was better (though still not great).

thanks! The MRI doesn't bother me.. It's the biopsies that make me queasy. I may ask for something to calm my nerves. Very interesting about the false negatives. Here hoping that my mystery spots on the MRI test -
