So tomorrow I have an MRI to determine size. I have IDC in two spots on my left breast, they are pretty deep. Does size have any correlation with lymph node involvement? Probably not. Oh, I had a benign looking cyst on my right side. It came back benign but the radiologist told me that the biopsy marker was not placed in the area they saw on the mammogram. Really?? So we will see what the MRI shows there.

Hi Melgirl, sorry you've found yourself here but you'll find there's an amazing group of women here who are fighting the same battle. Makes you feel less alone. I was diagnosed on 12/31. Had my MRI friday. If I can give you any advice it is to mentally prepare yourself. I had one back in March 2015 and it was horrible because I didn't know what to expect. This time it was not bad at all. Prepare for a lot of noise, an unusual positioning of your body and most likely an IV for the contrast fluid. If you stay super still it's over in 20 minutes (just relax your mind and think positive thoughts...I'm sure that's a challenge right now...it will be easier). If you move it takes longer. The contrast fluid will make you feel nauseous sometimes or just odd so drink tons of water after to flush it out. As far as your question, I am not an expert so I'm unsure. Maybe one of these kind ladies will answer. I'm curious to know. Sending tons of love and positivity your way. God bless and fight.

Good luck tomorrow! I am also having my breast MRI tomorrow. Not sure how quickly I'll have any results (and Monday is a holiday).

I forgot about the holiday, that will delay results. Maybe we will get lucky and the results will come on Friday. The person I talked to at MRI put it in as without contrast. Are they usually done with contrast????

Thx Jujubee . I have had an MRI of my brain before so at least I am a little prepared.

Now I'm worried about the contrast.

Melgirl, my doctor explained that the contract fluid is a dye to make the images clearer. So try and not panic about it. Sorry if I caused it. Instead focus on the fact that the dye will drecrease the odds of them missing anything. Think positive. We want to get better so the best we can hope for with tests is that they are done the most accurate way possible. Worth possible nausea afterwards....promise. Besides that was my reaction....you may have none

and one other thing...I had my MRI friday and had my results by Monday afternoon. So they interpret the images pretty quickly

Thx. I'm having it without contrast. I'm just gonna call my doc in the morning and double check. It's not scheduled until 2:00 so there's time to change the order.

I had an MRI last week. They took pictures without contrast and then with contrast. The position was the worst for me. I can't stand laying ony stomach and my arms went to sleep. Most people don't have any problems with the contrast. I didn't. Good luck!
