Did your external incision site on your lumpectomy itch?

I had steristrips (I think that's what they are called) over the biopsy incision and after a few days they started to itch so bad that I ripped them off.

Nor sure if I did it too soon, but the itching was too uncomfortable.

Did anybody else have itching from the steristrips or from the incision site from their lumpectomy?

I read that sometimes healing scars itch. This is always the case with me.

How did you manage the itching? I am so afraid of hurting such a delicate part of my body by scratching it.

Laniem acter my excisional biopsy, my whole breast itched like crazy. I assume it's part of healing. Doc said it was fine and it did eventually get better.

The steri-strips light me up like I'm on fire and blister me. I understand part of this is the "drag" they put on the top layer of delicate skin. I had them on my belly and they didn't bother me much, but on my breast they felt like strips of fire-ants.

Call your doctor to see what you can put on the incision for itching. My doctor would not let me remove the steri strips.
