Hello and thanks for this forum. I am wondering if anyone else had has two excisional biopsies done the same day and on the same breast. I have 2 masses, one palpable at 1:00 and the other not palpable at 9:30. They are fibroadenomas with atypical ductal hyperplasia. My question really is about recovery and scarring. I already have a significant scar near the 9:30 from breathing tube placement as an infant so I am used to scars, but just curious. I meet with the surgeon Tuesday so I can ask her as well, but I like to hear personal experience from others.

    Hi Juliana-

Your scarring would probably depend on how much breast tissue you have, and how much the surgeon removes for the biopsy. If the masses are on the bigger side, you could be looking at significant scarring, so definitely talk to the surgeon about how much s/he is planning on removing.

The recovery will be dependent on how you typically handle surgical procedures, and how big the areas are that are being biopsied. Also, take into consideration you'll have additional recovery time if you undergo general anesthesia. You can read more about biopsy types and recovery periods on our main site: http://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/testing/types....

Good luck with your biopsies, we'll be thinking of you!

I saw where she posted somewhere else that they were fibroadenomas and benign. Good for her!
