Tumors in lymph vessels cause tightness in chest
Looking for answers from the IBC community.
My IDC has spread to the lymph vessels under the skin and is behaving like IBC. I am experiencing a tightness in my chest like a band around it just below my breasts. Occasionally I feel a burning sensation. My MO and surgeon say it's probably caused by tumors in the lymph system. I've searched through BC.org and the net and haven't found anything about it, much less what can be done to relieve the ache. Anybody heard or experience this?
Thanks.

thanks Bon. You are my IBC mentor.
My surgeon thought it might be effects of radiation and surgery, but I only have UMX and pain is on both sides and so 'tumors' in the lymph vessels was the explanation. Lungs are clear so far and I have no problems breathing.
So sorry to hear how much pain you are in. Mine is pretty manageable -- persistent, not acute pain, but enough so that I can't ever forget about cancer
Hugs.

hydranne,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I was beginning to wonder if I was some kind of weird case. Also useful to know that it can take a while for pain to abate. Yes on xeloda chemo pills since AC+taxol didn't kill everything. MO wants to give it at least a couple of cycles.

Do you all have a burning in the axilla, too? I've been experiencing a burning through my right axilla. (My cancer side). I've been getting these little red bumps on my arm pit that burn and are raised, but only last a day or so. But, several pop up each day. And my arm pit burns. I emailed my onc and she scheduled an ultrasound which came back fine. But, I can't stop feeling like something is wrong. My arm pit is burning. Has any one else experienced this?

Bon_,
Thanks for responding. bgum's issue seems different from mine, though at first my recurrence presented itself as little red bumps on my chest but hey didn't burn. The only thing that bothered me is that they meant that the cancer had come back. Ugh.

Hi Bon,
What's really bizarre about my recurrence is that it presented on the skin at first -- small red bumps on the skin around the mastectomy scar. But after I started Xeloda, the bumps faded and I felt great. But since then, my remaining breast has gotten harder and the nipple has changed -- distressingly fast. Only a month ago my surgeon examined my remaining breast and said it felt good. And of course the tightness is still there presumably from inflammation in the lymph vessels as Hydranne so helpfully noted. I hate cancer. I bought a Powerball ticket and I'd rather be cured than collect on the millions.

Bon,
I had CT scan last week. Appointment with oncologist tomorrow. If she thinks xeloda is not working, then it's on to plan B. Thanks for your concern.
