Sorry for your loss poodles.
Just had my breast MRI... Good times😳
-
Poodles- so sorry about your news. It is never easy losing a parent. That's a long trip....traveling mercies!
JcLc83- Sorry about your DIL. Family can be so complicated. Hugs to you!
Sandy- despite the weather- sounds like you had a grand weekend. So glad! Am impressed about the dancing. Sounds like your son's show is a big success...what fun!
-
MLP3- YaY! you are done...how did it go for you?
-
Chisandy - Thanks! I'll check it out!
Brightsocks - thats good, icing will help not too cold though to freeze though yikes. Keep up your meds for pain
Gemma - I'm 6 1/2 months post lumpectomy and only just getting feeling back now from in the armpit. Its been a weird feeling, but I havent worried about it, it eventually comes back takes a long time, because its nerves.
-
Just want to thank everyone for their support. It means a lot.
My kids just don't get it. And my DIL well that's another story lol.
-
Brit, I am sorry you ended up in the hospital. I hope the change in routine will prevent that from happening again. Poodles, I am very sorry for the loss of your dear MIL. My condolences to you and your DH. Safe travels. Brightsocks, some swelling is normal. Glad you are icing it. MLP3, hooray for getting through the dreaded MRI! Jclc83, wow! I am very sorry you experienced that. I hope your son steps up to help repair the damage. MO appointment this morning. He couldn't feel the node I told him is tender. Oh well. I see my BS next week. My blood work all came back good. I am so squarely in menopause I am <6.0. I found out why he never gave me the results of my Dexascan. He never got them! My stupid IPA never gave him the results and he assumed I didn't take the test. I told them, yes I did. It was in September I believe. Always a fun time !
-
Same thing happened to me Molly, I did a bone density scan one year, it came back Osteopenia (not counting my completely compressed lumbar vertebrae that she didn't mention), but my primary never forwarded it to the spine doctor. I was in pain another year before I squawked and found out. She's history now.
-
Hang in there jclc!
They told me that they haven't seen beautiful pictures like that on an MRI in a while! I was barely breathing and thinking that there was no way I want to do this again anytime soon! And no wine in the parking lot either lol! The worst part was my vein rolling and being stuck 4 times for the iv😡
-
MLP3, Glad you survived! Nothing like being a pin cushion for an IV. NOW you can have the wine!
HUGS!
-
Gemma12- Do you know what will happen next? Will you have test results back by then? Nobody has told me anything yet which is just hard. I am sure I won't have a answer for another 3+ weeks.
-
brightsocks do you have a postop appointment with your surgeon? Mine was about 10 days after my surgery, and that was when I got my pathology results and a bit of an idea about my treatment. My first medical oncologist appointment was a few days later, when my treatment was really planned
-
I don't know where to post this, so I'll just post it here. There's always hope.
Painkiller diclofenac tapped to become future cancer-killer

-
Marijen, the link doesn’t work. Nonetheless, I think I’ll go slather on some Voltaren gel/
-
Ok Chisandy, I reposted it. I've never heard of this painkiller - please tell me it's OTC : )
-
Bright socks - my surgeon called me Friday with my pathology results. I wasn't expecting them until today, but was very happy they came back so fast. I'm so sorry you have to wait so long! Can you call your surgeon's office to see if they'll give you the results over the phone? I am seeing my BS on Wednesday. She'll check my incisions and maybe take the stitches out if they are ready. She wanted to see me 7-10 days after surgery. The Nurse Navigator called today to say she set up my appts. with the medical oncologist, and radiology oncologist for a week from Wednesday. She also emailed me a copy of my pathology report so I have it for my binder.
Hang in there!
Amy

Diclofenac is an NSAID. Good news and bad news, Marijen. Good news: yes, Voltaran and Flector--generic name diclofenac (whether oral, gel or patches) is OTC. Bad news: only outside the US (in some EU countries). Have never been given Voltaren pills. Here, all forms of diclofenac require a prescription;a tube of the gel is upwards of $40 and a package of 30 Flector patches is upwards of $260. In Italy & Spain I paid the equivalent in euros of $12 for a tube of the gel and $15 for a 5-pack of the patches. In Germany, the gel and spray were about $25, but that was in 2012 when the euro was stronger.
-
Chisandy, I read that the Flector patch can cause liver failure. Guess there's a good reason for a prescription. Oh well. But thanks for the info.
-
Marijen, chronic use of any NSAIDs (as well as acetaminophen and too much alcohol) can wreck the liver. Moderation in all things....
The Flector patches are large enough to cut in half and place only on the injury or affected joint, and should be removed after 12 hrs., with several hours’ “patch vacation.” (Lidocaine patches, OTOH, must be removed after 12 hrs. and not replaced for at least another 12). They’re costly enough that using them in so sparing a manner is fine by me.
-
LoveToFly- A week Wednesday I will see my surgeon for a check and removal of the plastic wrap covering. In the beginning I was trying to figure out if I am having chemo or no chemo etc but I now understand this BC is so complex that we all have so many different types/sizes that it will be impossible to figure out. Not having all the parts to my puzzle is frustrating but I know it will get better once I have the answers. My family doctor said that I would have chemo but I think she was talking in general terms. That was just from read the first biopsy report.
-
Brightsocks, When I first started this journey I also didn't realize how many moving parts there are to breast cancer. Shift one thing and the whole landscape changes. Waiting sucks.
HUGS!

You have to love autocorrect and the porn position!!! -
Never a dull moment with autocorrect
HUGS!

Dear Brit:
Sometimes it just sucks to be "the lucky one". I hope that you feel better soon and that you won't have to go through this again with your next infusion. Good luck.
Dear MLP3:
I would make an appointment to see your doctor asap so that your questions can be answered. Good luck. Don't jump to conclusions. Many times irregularities are noticed in the lungs and it can be due to anything. Sometimes breathing in dust may cause the scan to light up. Hopefully, everything is benign. From what you posted, it sounds like the liver is benign. I wish you the best an appt with your doctor 1st thing tomorrow.
-
Dear 6doggies:
I waited 6 months after my radiation to have my mammogram and sonogram. My oophorectomy was 2 & 1/2 months after my radiation and my mammo/sono was 4 months after that. Which doctor wrote the prescription for the mammo? Apparently, that doctor felt that there was a reason for you to have the test or that doctor would not have written the prescription. You may want to call your MO and schedule an appointment sooner than March since they cancelled your appt. Good luck.
-
Dear MustLovePoodles:
I am so sorry for your loss. What part of Florida are you going to?
-
Oh my, gone for a few days and I had to look back to find out what porn position was! Haha! What a riot!
I had left breast radiation in pROne position, too. No problems to my heart.
Brit - glad you're doing better and back online with us!
My husband and I found a little breast cancer ornament to commemorate my fight --it's a little pair of pink boxing gloves!
My tree ornaments almost all have a story, and Iiked this story. I didn't want a sad or scary memory, and this ornament just felt right for me.
-
6 mo re-check post lumpectomy. All good!! happy!
Love the glove ornaments!
Found out this week co-workers wife dx with bc. Praying for her.
-
Thanks lumpies,
This forum is terrific! I was diagnosed with a 1.5 cm IDC on Dec. 15th. Made it through to a scheduled lumpectomy on Dec. 30th very quickly and then catastrophe - the flu hit. I spent Christmas down and out, waiting to get better and ultimately had to postpone surgery. Now I am rescheduled for Jan. 13th and am almost beside myself. I am so afraid of margins not being clear, of lymph node involvement, and of something showing up on what will likely follow in terms of scans. Every ache and pain, I fear things have spread. I find myself wondering how I will EVER not feel this way again. So many of you have stories of re-excisions and whatnot. It makes me feel like it will be okay. I find myself wondering how I will weather this emotionally as well as physically. This forum is truly a gift. I pray for good news for all of us...
-
Jonsey, first breathe, just take a long slow breath. We are all here to help where we can and share our own experiences. I can't speak for IDC, but my lx was easy. Follow the docs instructions, take your pain meds and give yourself time to heal.
-
Sloan - What a great idea!!! love the gloves!
Jonsey - Sorry you had to reschedule and yes it does make you anxious the wait. You only have a few days now, so once you have the lumpectomy you'll have results of everything. Nothing is going to happen between now and then, so deep breath, one step at a time, then you'll have clear direction. Good luck!
