you are spot on Sloan. I called my MO on call this morning and they told me to keep washing with mild shampoo, use a steroid cream that I already have and they called me in Keflex antibiotic. Couple of them are big with white blisters. Feel like I should pop them but they told me not to ha. Guess it will have to be a soft hat to work for me tomorrow. Hope this clears up fast.

Sammy3 I just opened my Lindi big bottles. I don't notice a difference but I bought the lavender face serum. I still haven't tried the citrus. I will pop it open and see. Personally not thrilled with the smell at all but I do like how it works and feels. Thanks for the head bump advice ladies. Mine doesn't seem to be getting worse so far. I am able to sleep ok but I will have dr check it when I go on Wednesday. Treatment #3. I hope all you ladies have a great week!! I'm praying for you Pezgal!! So glad I have you all!! Going to look good feel better tomorrow:) I'll let y'all know how it goes

I'm wondering if any of you had scans before your treatments? I've had none and I guess I'm wondering why some do and some don't.

Twirp, I am going to my Look Good, feel better session tonight as well! That is funny, we will both be there with our red bumpy heads, ha.

Stotamom, I had a Petscan before my treatment. That was ordered by my oncologist. He did say that not all doctors do them for early stage breast cancer.

mvspauling, if people saw us together at that class it would be called "looks red feels bumpy" lol, have fun! I was wondering if I should show up without makeup but I'm kinda scared I'll scare people😉

Stotamom, I also had a petscan, MRI and a mugascan for heart. That was all prior to first treatment. I'm not sure what they do when it's time to go to surgery.

Thinking of you all! Have good days

Mvspaulding & Twirp - Have fun!!!! I enjoyed my class. If you feel more comfortable, wear your make-up. We had the option at our Look Good / Feel Better of practicing with the make-up or just listening/observing. None of the ladies there chose to practice with the make-up...they just talked us through it. I was especially interested in the tips about eyebrows! It was fun to try on a variety of wigs. You might want to bring a wig liner or thin soft hat liner if you have one.

Stotamom - I didn't have any scans either. They only did the mammogram, US and US guided biopsy before surgery. My lump and was small and didn't have any obvious signs of metastasis, so they did not recommend any other testing. If my surgery had revealed something else, they said they would do scans then. Fortunately I didn't need any. Just went from surgery to chemo (actually they gave me 6 weeks to heal up between the 2) without other testing except for an echocardiogram baseline so that they can monitor my heart's response to the Herceptin while I am on Taxol+Herceptin.

Sorry, I just kinda dropped out of this group but wound up in hospital due to neutropenic fever. Given massive amounts of antibiotics, and also had some unexplained reddening of my port site noted on Thursday.

When they withdrew the needles from my port yesterday prior to be discharged, a small amount of serous drainage came out which threatened my hospital release. They had to re-access the port and run another series of cultures (all of which have previously come back negative ,) but I was still able to come home - Thank God. I just have to keep watch on the port site. There is talk of removing it, but I hope not.

I'm still on oral antibiotic and feeling weak, but I'm home. My next chemo is scheduled for next Monday, and my MO says she'll modify the amount of drugs given, plus I'll have the Neulasta shot the day after. Hopefully, that will prevent this from happening again. My MO says this happens to about 1 in 10 patients after their first chemo, wasn't I lucky?

My diagnosis came on suddenly, as well. Within two weeks of finding a very large lump (5.5 cm), I was diagnosed with BC and heading straight to surgery.

Why did your docs start with chemo, rather than surgery? I've often read of this cours, but not sure why it's done in this order.

Heading in to my first infusion right NOW!

Yep. I had a CT and bone scan. Because my tumor was so large, I think they wanted to know if the cancerhad already spread?

I'm having serious heart burn issues. Rolaids aren't touching it. I've never had heart burn before, so I'm clueless. What should I take?

    Twirp, you are funny!

Well I had fun and got lots of nice cosmetics for free. It was a private class! I was the only one signed up but the nice ladies didn't want to cancel on me so they came and did a class for one. Was kind of bummed that they didn't have any wigs to try on but they said a lot of them had to stop doing that because of sanitary reasons. Twirp, did you get to try wigs?

Anyway over all it's a very nice program. But after working and getting dinner with my daughter, then going to that class, I am wiped out. Good night all

    Happy end of Monday!

Lawyer180 my oncologist said Zantac for the heartburn. Mvspaulding & twirp26 I too have the dreaded bumps and I hate even thinking of antibiotics again, 2 rounds in the last month due to strep throat so I'm going to try some home remedies and I messaged my oncologist for any topical I can use.

Sammy I'm going next Tuesday to LGFB! Brithael I'm so sorry about your hospital stint! I've not had any scans but my surgery was 1 week after finding out that my lump was BC so I didn't even get to consult with a plastic surgeon to have the tissue expanded done. So I guess I get to add that to my list after my chemo.

    Have a good week everyone

mvspauling, i did not try on wigs. They had three there but they were all blonde and real short. They did give away beanies and got to pick out a scarf to take home so that was nice. I really just enjoyed visiting with other women that didn't have hair😉 It's too bad nobody else signed up. If you find time, I might try another one. Just bring your makeup bag with you. For me it was less about the makeup and more about the other people there going through the same journey.

Lawyer180, yes Zantac all the way. I take a perscription for heartburn and still get it so my dr said to take Zantac at night in addition to my perscription. Heart burn sucks!

I go tomorrow for #3, kinda pigging out today while my taste buds are semi back. It's crazy how quick they get screwed up😞

    Have great days ladies!

Yes, I was looking forward to talking with other ladies as well. :(

The one volunteer was a 2 time breast cancer survivor though so I talked with her quite a bit. I think that might be something I would want to volunteer with once I am done with all this.

Good luck with #3 tomorrow Twirp.

I thought the same thing!! What a great way to get involved and help. There was also a survivor at mine. She said she walked 3 miles a day and just kept pushing herself to keep living:) inspirational for sure. I am thinking about going to a support group here too. It really helps to talk to other women, so glad we have this sounding block to talk to each other as well. I think I will miss everyone when this is all said and done.

Did you guys go to the Look Good/Feel Better with your wig on? I go next week so I was just wondering. Also speaking of hair - I have questions. I started chemo way back on 12/9 - my 3rd and half-way point will be next week. I have major thinning hair, but I haven't lost it. I have one major bad spot in the front of my head - like it looks like they had to shave me for brain surgery. But other than that - the back of my head looks like I have hair. I still wear a wig, because I had cut my hair short when it started thinning. I just wondered if anyone else had it work this way? I thought it was weird on me.

    Hi ladies!!

Well, I have finally buzzed my head, leaving more length at the top so I can gel it and get that "cool, funky" look. lol....

Now...I made this awesome hat with hair to share with you all!! I have bought a couple of wigs, but wanted something less confining. I am an extreme crafter, and think that i can make anything ( haha), so I tried this...And it has velcro holding it in so you can use it with any hat you want!!!! I am so excited!!

Sammy3 I wore a scarf. It was really cool because there were about 20 of us. They had us go around and introduce ourselves. One lady told us her story and pulled her wig off. ( it didn't even look like a wig!!) anyway, all of us just followed and pulled off out head wear;) it was freeing and nobody judged. Also, I did wear makeup but they had everyone remove it to put new make up on.

Jodes001, I am also a crafter. How did you attach the hair to the velcro?? I was thinking maybe I could do something like that. I have one that is attached to a hat but I want to wear my own ball caps. I'll take tips;) it looks great!!

Anyone have an issue with peeling hands? I have tried everything including wearing gloves after putting ointment on them. They look awful and it is painful. It is also very cold and snowy here which doesn't help. Any tips?

Sammy, I shaved my head once it started coming out in handfuls. However, I am on the same time frame as you and my stubble still has not come out all over my head. I was wondering the same thing, if I would still have hair if I hadn't shaved it. Makes me wonder if the chemo is working because my nurse said they celebrate hair loss because they know that the drugs are doing what they are supposed to be doing. Also, I didn't wear a wig to my LGFB session because of my current red bumpy scalp. I don't think I will be wearing a wig until this is cleared up. I had makeup on and washed it off when I got there.

Twirp, that sounds very cool. I wish there had been more people at my session to share with. I am going to go to my local hospital breast cancer support group this month. I think it will be beneficial.

Jodes, that hat looks way cool!

I was to take the Look Good, Feel Better class last month before I needed the wig and head covering. I signed up for a class 90 miles away so I could do it BEFORE time. I got to town and was eating lunch before the class and was called and told it had been cancelled! I was so disappointed! There is one in my town early next month. I may try to take it, but haven't decided.

I've been taking a generic Pepcid since Saturday and the heartburn has really been controlled! I was amazed!

I go for my 3rd and next to last AC this Thursday. UGH! But it's one time closer to the end of that part! Got to remember the positive! :)

Got several compliments on the new wig! It's definitely more ME, than the blonde, blonde, blonde one! Still getting used to it though. But it IS getting better! I got a pre-tied scarf and really like it. Where is the best place to get those? Any suggestions? I've got a black one and would like a few other colors. Black really does NOT go with everything.

Hi ladies, hope you all are having a good week. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sammy, I still have my hair after 6 rounds of Taxol--7 coming up tomorrow. And like you I cut my hair pre-chemo mainly cause I just wanted one less thing to worry about. I wear my wig all the time during the week. My hair is growing but it also sheds quite a bit too.

Jodes, what a great hat/hair combo! I like, I like. I have something similar that I found in a box of hats/wigs at my infusion center. Looks like someone took a nice cashmere beret and sewed a wig cap into the lining that has hair on the front and back. I get lots of compliments on it so much so it has become my weekend head gear. I should probsbly give it back when finished, but would like to keep it since its pretty fashionable 😍

Brithael, sorry about the hospital visit. You take care. I've been lucky. After kicking and screaming about not wanting a port, I can't imagine them hunting for my small and disappearing veins each week I am pro-port now. Hopefully they can work out any issues for you.

Gardengypsy, I'm getting neiadjuvant chemo because I actually have DCIS and two lumps (though the other is tiny), have a node positive, and am youngish (don't consider late 40s young myself). The BS left it up to me to do chemo before or after but those were his reasons. He made the case to my oncologist and second opinion BS, and they all agreed with his recommendation so here I am doing chemo before surgery

I bought the, hair from Sally Beauty, and saw a video on youtube on how to glue together the wefts. I did that, then used a hot glue gun to glue the velcro to hair weft and to the cap.

I'll help you any way I can!!!

I have been keeping a day by day log of my chemo side effects on my blog. Of course, everyone is different, but I would have like to have seen something like this before I started chemo. It only covers the first two weeks at this point, but they are covered in the latest three entries if anyone is interested. I'll be finishing the last week between treatments by next Monday when I have my second TC.

thanks Jodes!! I'm totally going to check YouTube!! It looks great!! Thanks!!

Katg68, I have had luck just finding scarves at Walmart. They also had a buy 2 for $10 at Walgreens. I'm not a fancy girl so I usually pick out the solid colors;) if you can make a new LGFB class, I recommend. The gave out scaves and stuff at mine. Plus the make up alone is worth it!! The best part was the ladies to talk to for me.

I also have my stubble. My scalp is very dry. I have been putting coconut oil on it at night. ( I smell like an almond joy;) I think mine would have all come out but not sure how long it would have taken. If I take tweezers to a couple hairs they slide right out so I'm not sure why they won't just drop. My red bumps are better. I think it came from taking wax strips to the stubble. Not very bright I know;) it's just annoying!!!

Sammy, I have not seen anything from Pezgal. Been thinking about her too!! Let us know how you are Pezgal if you see this.

    Best wishes!!!!

Went for infusion #3 of AC but after my wbc came back at ZERO they canceled it. I'm so bummed as I would have only had one more AC to go before I started my taxol. They started me on an antibiotic so hopefully that will keep me out of the hospital. Praying I will be able to receive it next week.
