love your username, my 8 yr old is mad for baby owls, in fact owls in general.

Personally, I have anatomicals (teardrop), to me they look, feel, are amazing but I also feel I had exceptional circumstances. I have heard a lot of good results come from rounds. It's a tough call, especially if you have never even considered something like this. Take a peek at this forum https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/44/topics...

Whippetmom is just brilliant, I am sure someone on there can help you. Good Luck!

Ask your PS to let you see and handle samples of both types, and ask for a description of the advantages and disadvantages of each. It is easier to make a decision that is right for you with that information. Best wishes!

Love my teardrops. They look and feel natural.

I believe it depends on how big your were before, or how big you want to be after. I was a D before mastectomy and wanted to be the same size after reconstruction. I had wanted to do the teardrop implants as well, but my PS said that implants he uses (Natrelle) don't come that large (I had 775ccs in the expanders). So, I went with 800cc round implants. I just had the exchange surgery at the end of September, so everything is still kind of settling, and I might have fat grafting in the future, but so far I'm pleased with the round implants. They feel great, and they look a lot less fake than I was fearing.

When I was considering implants, my surgeon said he felt rounds were better because if there is ever any rotation, they still look as intended, versus a teardrop that can only face one way. Plus, he held up a round and with the filling inside and gravity, they are still thinner at the top and heavier at the bottom.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your help everyone. I'm still making my decision and researching so every little helps. I have another question. I am 60 and have had mega menopausal symtoms for 8 years now. (I know it just gets better and better) Any information about if and how this might chnage post op? I hear some of the drugs they might give me could make it even worse (not sure that's' possible I survive on 4 hours sleep at night)

Missbee My PS told me the exact same thing about the rotation. This is why I went with the rounds. I'm 6 months out from BMX and I guess I'm happy with them. I was a DD before surgery and now I'm a C so there is a lot of getting use to as far as body image goes. Hope this helps

Hello babyowls, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on the round vs teardrop. I originally had the teardrop implants, within 6 months one of them had rotated 90 degrees. I went through physio treatments in an attempt to put it back in it's original spot, it was painful and didn't work. My surgeon said it can happen to women who are on the thin side, she had it happen 4 times before. After discussing with other drs in her field she decided that she would not recommend the tear drop to her patients. I had to have a second surgery to replace both sides with round implants, Quite frankly I found the tear drops uncomfortable and haven't had any pain with the round ones. They don't look as natural as the tear drop but when you have clothes on no one can tell whether they are tear drop of round so I didn't have an issue with it. At some point I will have fat injections so that the ripples are not as obvious. As always, this is my experience only and I'm not recommending one way or another, it's ultimately your choice. Good luck with your procedure!
