My sunshine. . .good for you! Four miles is great!

SoCalLisa . . .neither my FitbitCharge or FitbitHR required me to set my stride. I did check them on the treadmill and they count my step fairly accurately. Better than the clip on pedometers I had before.

Not a good week for exercise. Two doctor's appts today and spent the rest of the afternoon during insurance stuff. I am now scheduled for an upper GI scope tomorrow. Did not think it would be so soon but at least I'll have the results next week. Meanwhile, another new med.

I never had to set my Fitbit Charge either.

    I'd be grouchy too, Scottie!

Subbed & 45 minutes on the treadmill. I am soon off to watch some high school sports.

Sunshine, here is my great 'ditch the wig' story. I was still teaching & was still wearing my wig in the fall when school started, so my students that year just thought that it was my real hair. In December my hair was finally (and barely) long enough to be revealed. It was super curly (like when your gramma would put pin curls in your hair), but I couldn't stand the wig anymore and showed up to school one Monday with the new look. One of my students, a real fashionista, looked at me in horror and said, "WHAT did you do to your hair?" I just threw up my hands, laughed and responded, "You DON'T even want to know!" And that was the end of that. Ha!!!

Scottie, not a good exercise week this week. I've clipped on my Fitbit One and started with the best of intentions.... Well, this week Friday is the only day I don't have an appt. scheduled... I was hoping for a week before starting rads with few appts. and now I have doc appt or PT everyday save Tuesday... I'm planning on parking far from every door so I can get in my walks at least. I was feeling so good getting back into more exercise... then dang doc appts jump in a muck it up... Oh, well, once I'm through next week, rads starts and then I'll be one treatment segment closer to being done!

    Warrior On!

SoCal....I don't remember setting a stride on my fitbit, but I had to on my old omron pedometer. I think I put my height and weight in my fitbit though.

Good walking day today. Got my morning walk before work. I went to a training this morning and walked the 20 minutes to/from work and it felt good. Still behind on steps for the week, but today I got 19+K steps.

Cold and snow is back...tomorrow its only going to be in the 20's and we are supposed to get 3 or so inches tonight.

    Scottiemom...good luck tomorrow

Jerseygirl...enjoy an appt free day tomorrow.

    Happy Friday to everyone!

SoCal, I never set my stride on my fitbit either. I have a clip-on Flex and not sure you can even do that. I could steps. It does tell me miles, but I don't pay much attention to that either. I just figure if I get to 10,000, I am doing good.

Thanks everyone for the happy comments about going out without a wig or a cap. It sure was a lot more comfortable :)

I got in an hour of walking yesterday and 50 minutes today. The track has continued to be very quiet this week. I don't know if it is the weather or what, but it has been nice.

On track with exercise. Buried with work, the gift that just keeps giving. But suspect another project on the way!

I am planning on a V-day 10k. First time ever, but a friend of mine invited me today. I had to caution her that I am slower than slow. Of course, I didn't remind her that she is half my age. So thinking I am on!!! Also thinking about my "underwear on the outside outfit"!

Lots of walking around Seattle for Saturday plus skiing with my cycling buddy for Sunday.

Need to hit the hay as something I hadn't planned on for tomorrow AM. More later. - Claire

Bad I am so sorry for your loss. SoCal I have never set my steps either but I have counted my steps then checked my Fitbit quite often and found it very accurate, the only thing I don't like about the HR is that when I do a cycle class it doesn't count 'steps' whereas when I had the Fitbit One that was clipped to my waist it did, I posted an article to your FB timeline that may give you more insight to its bells and whistles as I know how you love technology

Have been MIA but keeping up with exercise 'sort of' last Saturday did Body Combat, Sunday - Body Pump, Monday - Body Combat Tuesday and Wednesday were spent dodging floodwaters, it was pretty bad here so I didn't venture out once I made it home but made up for it yesterday by doing RPM (cycle class) at lunchtime then Body Pump last night. Also did the Christmas decoration 'take down' on Wednesday night, one of the smartest things I ever did a couple of years ago was get plastic totes and mark them with everything that went into them, sure makes putting away a very easy job as I know exactly where everything goes.

(Warning: baseball talk!) Ruth - Denard's leaving the Nats and going to the Giants. He was a real fan favorite here as well. We'll miss him. Even the baby panda tweeted out a good-bye, asking the SF fans to take good care of him.

Netsfan, we are going to Cooperstown for the inductions this year..my grandmother lived there and I spent all my summers growing up with her and taught swimming during high school and college in a gym that was in the same building as the Hall of Fame. All the stars used our locker room, so I got to meet so many in the late fifties and early sixties. I was hoping Trevor Hoffman would get in this year, but no.

3 mile Leslie Sansone WATP class. Was 4 miler but dropped out after 3 to do Zumba class. Only lasted 30 mins in Zumba. I just don't care for zumba as I always seem to get leader who doesn't choreograph so steps/moves are not synced or may do 4 on the left but only 3 on the right, just frustrating. Guess I would get it if given the chance but not really interested so zumba for me is a write-off!

    Night sculpted friends.

Nats. . .luv the Bei Bei story. I have to get back to our zoo to see the Meihem twins again before they are separated.

My upper scope went well. Still a bit out of it from the sedation but doc said things looked okay. He took a few biopsies to test for treatable issue including gluten intolerance. If that is positive I'm going to cry. I know exactly how hard it is to be gluten free. DS was allergic to wheat and milk from birth and only recently could tolerate the wheat again. I luv my bread.

My exercise today was sleeping off the anesthesia which was a good idea given our WetLanta weather.

Did another 4 mile walk without any headgear today. I sure needed it after a very frustrating time on the phone with Comcast, only to end the call with my internet not working! Then, had to call Comcast technology and was put on hold for half an hour. Finally, after another hour and a third call, I got my internet back!

Oh no, Mary! I know your pain!

Scottie, glad the 'procedure' went okay, and certainly hope that you will still be able to eat bread!

I have been to Cooperstown. Very interesting. SoCal, if you would, list some of the early 60s stars you have met & your impressions of them for us baseball nuts.

Another super busy school day followed by 45 minutes on the treadmill & 45 minutes of toning with my friend Denise Austin.

Hi everyone! I have not been able to get caught up on posts, as I went back to work on Monday. It has been an exhausting week. I went to the gym twice, did weights, walked and elitiptical. Tonight I walked at the park, it was a great night to be out.

Patoo-I do love Zumba classes, however some instructors bounce and ump too much. It can really be a lot of strain on my knees.

Ruth-You always amaze me with your workout routine! Do you have any yoga videos? If so any favorites you care to share? I really would like to have one that I could do here at home.

Scottiemom-Hopefully you don't have any issues with gluten, it would be a challenge to give all those foods up. I hope it all turns out okay

A yoga DVD I like is Denise Austin's Yoga Body Burn. There are 4 different routines; you can do one, a combination of them, or all of them depending on how much time you have or what you want to work on. A fast paced 20 minute Yoga Burn, 10 minute Yoga Legs, 10 minute Yoga Abs, and a 10 minute Yoga Relax. I'd rather take a class, but it is a good alternative if you can't get there. Denise Austin has some good pilates DVDs as well.

hi all, back from another round of Shovel & Sculpt. Wanted to clean up around new house before deep freeze hits and the snow turns to cement. Electrician was there stringing wire and builder was taking out old drywall & insulation. Plumber starts bathroom install Monday and flooring guys are all set. Have some shopping to do but we don't need much. It's getting closer and we're excited to see the progress.

New at-work exercise strategy is a ten-minute walk break 3x a day. Everyone's on a diet which is good (fewer treats). Walked a couple nights after work so logging 9.5 miles walked since post.

Thank you Ruth! I want one to do at home when I can't get to the gym. May order a couple online and try them out.

Today is a beautiful day outside, so we rode our bikes. Tomorrow is suppose to be really chilly, we were lucky to get out. Later we will be watching some football. Can't wait to see how our Texans come out!

Badger-It sounds like it is going to get super cold where you are. It makes our weather here seem mild.

I kind of caught up with all the posts I have missed. I was super busy at work this week and didn't do jack as far as exercise. Today I got back on it. I walked with my hubby and son for 38 minutes and then I walked the dog fir 15. Then I shoveled and sculpted for 30. Just like you,Badger I'm trying to clear the icy mounds at the end of the driveway before the new snow and cold blast comes.

We have the big fluffy snowflakes today and I saw a red fox on my walk with the dog. It was so pretty against the snow. Of course my phone went dead so no photo. We saw The Revenant last night and I felt like I was in a scene of the movie with the beautiful snow.

SoCal YES! Walk on the beach = fresh air + endorphins. Photography stimulates the creative juices. The thrill of watching people surf may have even elevated your heart rate a little. :-)

Got laundry going and chili in the crockpot. In need of a power nap. Not too long or I won't sleep tonight but can hardly keep my eyes open. Worked hard today and I'm bushed.

Today's exercise was cleaning and sorting all the kitchen cabinets and drawers. Dh and I filled two large boxes of stuff to donate which are now in the garage. We have vowed to declutter one area of the house each weekend until we're done. Then we will donate the lot. We've been in this house for nearly 18 years and have collected way too much stuff.

Tonight we are enjoying our revamped kitchen. Tomorrow it's back to the gym.

Catching up after a few days.Went to bootcamp Thursday night which was a brutal weightlifting night. Did a 30 minute walk on the treadmill yesterday and walked over 30 minutes today while running errands. Ruth inspired me to pickup some new DVD' s for the crap weather days when I don't want to go out.... LOL
