I had a stereotactic breast biopsy on the 15th of this month. I'm having trouble getting results. On my online patient portal it says the pathology report it complete. I called my GP and they don't know anything. I called radiology and they said the report is posted and my Dr has the results. I guess if they aren't rushing to tell me I must be ok? But it's frustrating.

    Hi Shelley! Isn't it wonderful when the docs start pointing fingers at each other instead of coordinating with each other?

    Certainly do another round of phone calls tomorrow, but it sounds to me as if this is a situation that calls for a 3-way call. Many cell phones/smart phones can do them... If yours can, start with the first person, and when the second person contradicts the first (We sent them! We didn't get the results!) Add the first person back to the call, introduce them to each other and say something along the lines of "the radiology patient portal says the path report is complete and "X" (with the radiologist) says that my GP, has it. But my GP ("Y" on the phone with us) says they don't have it. How do we get my GP to be able to see it so that they can give the results to me?" Then let them talk to each other, while you listen.

    3-way calls have frequently been helpful to me in this sort of situation...(that is, when two different parties start pointing fingers at each other).

    This is not your problem! And they shouldn't be able to make it yours.

    Thank you LisaAlissa I called my dr again and the lady said they had my report and the Dr would call me later that day or the next day. I didn't realize until the next day that they were closed for NYE. So, maybe I'll hear Monday. It's just weird because the office never seemed disorganized and the Dr seemed forthcoming with info any other time.

    That does seem long. I had my biopsy on the 23rd and got the results on the 30th. My gyn still didn't hear anything as of yesterday, same with my primary dr. They wait until reports come across their desks. I'd def call back where you had it done and ask for a care liaison to share the results with you.

    still trying to get my results. Again my dr's office couldn't find them. Then they said they had them. The Dr would look at them and call. I called again right before closing and Dr hasn't looked at them yet.

    Shelleylala,

    I'm so sorry that you're getting run-around. My suggestion? Call again in the morning, talk with the Doc's nurse. Explain the anxiety and worry the delay is causing--ask if s/he can do anything. Offer to come and pick up the results. Maybe that will get them moving.

    If they offer an appointment, take them up on it!

    Even IF your GP calls you in the morning, you need to call the Radiology Clinic (or wherever the mammo/US/biopsy was done) and demand a printed copy of the path. report and a CD with your film/pictures on it NOW. It is your right to have copies and you should file them (copies of all tests, scans, all paperwork) away for future use (if ever needed) and the originals 'disappear' or get 'lost' somehow at sometime in the future. This is important no matter what the path. report is - if benign or not, just in case an issue comes up in the future, there will be a baseline/record for them to work from if you have your copies of the 'lost/misplaced/disappeared' records/files. Websites and computers can 'crash' or be hacked, so just a little 'insurance' that is your right to have.

    Go to the place that did your test and get the results. I did, every time I had a scan or any kind of test. They

    have to give it to you. You paid for it. Best of luck!
