Why does it not surprise me that you'd have one more medical trauma before 2015 went out, Theresa? Please add me to your whiskey toast!

I'm happy to think that in a few short hours, it'll be 2016 somewhere! Sharon, you'll have to let us know what it feels like! :) Does Australia have any special NYE traditions to ring in the new year? (I usually watch one of the shows broadcasting live from the "ball drop" in Times Square.

I have a bushfire burning out of control near my property. I've received a few evacuation texts. My float is hooked up, horse in small yard. Dog and cat inside ready to put on car. Ill hang on for a while. If the wind doesn't change I think I'll be ok.

    Fuck 2015

Edited to add that the fire is now contained. It's still burning out of control but within fire boundary.

    Happy New Year, Sharon!

Theresa, congrats on making your cycling goal. What a crash!

Bekah and Katy, extra hugs for the new year. This is the place to vent.

    Best wishes to all.

Happy New Year, Sharon!! Here's hoping it is the best year of your life!

    Theresa: OMG. That looks painful.

We are laying low tonight. I have been enjoying doing not much over this break. We went out to a nice dinner (with the kids if you can believe that) last night knowing it would be dead.

I vote for downtown Chicago but I might not be there because my Stage 2 might be in April. I am waiting for dates. It will probably be a few weeks until I know because they have to get insurance approvals first.

My eyes welled up when Sharon said she was in 2016. I'm heading to SF in a bit. One last hurrah for the whole family. Alan, Kelli & I are having an earlyish dinner at Shana's restaurant. We'll hang around at the bar until she gets off work. Alan is in charge of finding somewhere to ring in 2016 - I imagine at this late date it will be the hotel lounge - which works for me as I'm not sure what state I'll be in. Very emotional this am.

Much love to all of you

Happy New Year, Sharon! I'm happy that the fire is contained.

Theresa, what a way to say good-bye to 2015! I wish you a speedy healing - your stitches look painful.

Katy, I love the beach photos, it looks so beautiful and peaceful.

I'm ready for 2015 to go to hell. I'll be leaving for my MRI in a few hours, getting a heavy dose of Xanax ready on stand-by. Later in the evening we are going out to dinner with another couple, and then to the casino. I'd rather stay home.

Wishing you all happy celebrations and may 2016 be much, much better than 2015.

    BB

    Sharon- Happy New Year !!!!

E- big hugs for you today. I'm glad you have your family around you.

Lifting a glass (probably ginger ale) to all of you tonight. Love each and every one of you. The love and support and all we made it through TOGETHER this year continue to astound me.

Theresa...sorry to hear about your eye, hope it's feeling better today. But let's focus on the real accomplishment 3000 miles! Wow! I've always been inspired by your riding. What an amazing achievement especially while going through treatment this year.

    Happy New Year Sharon!

Have a great time with your family in SF Eileen!

Good thoughts for your MRI today BB!

We also went out for a family dinner last night with my parents and siblings who are home over the holiday. Hubby has to work today and tommorrow so we'll just be laying low tonight. Thankful to all of you, helping me get through this awful year. So glad to see 2015 go and hopeful for a great year in 2016.

Anyone have New Years resolutions to share? I've been doing ok exercising at home, but do have a gym membership. One of my goals is to get to the gym more. Been doing a lot of cardio but need more strength training. Maybe sign up for a class there. I'd also like to learn how to cook better...my girls are really interested in learning how to cook recently.

New Years resolutions: to be more thoughtful, exercising, eating better, being more social. At least those are the things I need to do as I pull my life back together.

2016 will be the year I get a job, divorce will be finalized, I feel like it has a lot of promise for onward and upward- but I don't want to put too much pressure on it. 2014 was a lousy year and I put a lot of faith in 2015. 1/13 I was diagnosed. Fucking 2015...

Happy New Year, Sharon! And happy last day of 2015 to the rest of you!!! I copied my important dates over from the 2015 calendar to the 2016 calendar. It was very painful going through all the significant dates--diagnosis, oncology apptmts, unexpected chemotherapy, radiation--sandwiched in there with my daughter's wedding. Can't wait to kick 2015's ass out the back door. Staying home tonight with hubby and cats and making a steak and lobster dinner. Couldn't think of a better way to ring in the new year.

The best of everything to you all in 2016. Thanks for your support this year. You're all THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that weekend works for me for Chicago, and the burbs are great with me!

T, Sorry about your crash, but glad you are not starting 2016 with it; instead, just ending this rotten year with a cherry on top of the shit sundae. Hope you heal soon.

Sharon, Hooray that you're already enjoying 2016!!!

Resolutions........hmmm. Maybe try to be a bit more patient. And also to clean out my closets. Al of them.

I have pretty much the same resolutions you have, Eileen. Also, I want to do everything I can to get my sex life back if that's possible. Maybe I am delusional but for now, I want to be.

I guess it has to do with when we were all diagnosed how meaningful New Years is to all of us….

I have a question for all of you. I am wondering why some people get the Taxotere and some get Taxol? I thought it was because of the ER/PR but I am seeing people with the same diagnosis I have getting the Taxotere. I am just curious how they decide.

eileen you have summed up my resolutions nicely.

Bekah, I. Pleased you had your last one in 2015.

I'm sitting out the front having a morning coffee. It's much cooler this morning. All that haze is smoke.

Allison- I'm no expert, but this is what I think I know, haha. the taxol vs Taxotere is unrelated to hormone receptors. Taxotere is many times stronger than Taxol, but they give the Taxol longer, and sometimes more often. I think when they want to do Adriamyacin, they do the AC together, then follow up with Taxol, and there are some different protocols, sometimes weekly, sometimes not. Different numbers of treatments. Deciding that could be depend on the mitosis rate.

If they aren't going to do the A for some reason, (like concern over heart issues, as was my case) they usually do TC, perhaps because they can (same reason a dog licks his balls) because without the A they figure your body can handle the full T.

Our Sharon, poor thing, had TAC, all three together. Very unusual here now, but a common protocol in Oz. I know we all remember how much THAT sucked for her.

There are no doubt countless combinations, but as we all learned, without lots of data/trials, they don't just make one up, they choose from among what has actually been trailedstudied. My MO is usually strictly clinical trial, except he wanted me to do TC 6 times, which I did. It had not been compared head to head with 4, but he just wanted to do it if I could tolerate it. In a way I'm glad now, since it appears I'm not going to be able to stay on Tamoxifen. If I fail on the AIs as we'll, I'll be grateful I had the extra chemo.

In summation, I don't know squat, I'm guessing at most of this, the medical community I guess "guesses" too, they just don't call it that. We all know it's art as much as science, plus there's luck. Mostly bad luck.

    Happy New Year!!!!πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈπŸΈ

did Legoland with grandkids and daughter, fireworks, the whole deal. Was a ton of fun. And now onto 2016, and may all the crap of 2015 be in our past. Stitches doing fine, not gonna let them hold me back. Got my bike checked out, ready to ride tomorrow

For some reason, taxol is given along with Herceptin, but you have to do Taxotere to get carboplatin, which my oncologist recommended for me. Guess carboplatin can cross the blood brain barrier, but not 100% sure about that.

Bb, hope all turns out well, fingers crossed for you.

    Happy new year!

Happy New Year everyone! Raising a glass to a 2016 filled with good health and a complete return to normal (or better than.)

Burning the sage here to clear the way for new and better days and reassuring the border collie that the fireworks will be over soon.
