Hi,

I was just diagnosed with Stage 1 ER- PR+ (70%) HER2- IDC. This particular hormone status is quite rare (accounting for only about 3% of BC), so there isn't much information out there on this type. Some studies show that it could be treated as though it were ER+, while others state that it is closer to triple negative and should be treated as such. Does anyone here have this type of BC? How were you treated? Any information is greatly appreciated.

The hormone status was checked more than once because it's rare. Also, because I am ER- negative I can't get the Oncotype test.

Citrine

Hello and so sorry for your diagnosis. While I do not know anything about the treatment for your type of bc I highly recommend you go to John Hopkins Ask an Expert Breast Cancer. It is hosted by an incredible nurse, Lilly Shockney who had breast cancer herself. You can pose your question to her and she should be able to assist you. Wishing you the best. Kathy

Hello Citrinetiff, so sorry for your diagnosis too..

My mum dx was 7 years ago when she was 46, she was also Er- Pr+ and Her2-, her tumour was 1,8cm N0 and M0,

Her treatmet was lumpectomy with 0/3 nodes, 4 cycles of chemotherapy, 25 sessions of radiotherapy and 5 years of tamoxifen but she didnt tolerate very well the tamoxifen so the oncologist decided to avoid it. He told us that its quite rare so they usually think that should be treated as a hormonal tumour

    Best wishes! :)

    Dvdsp,

Thank you so much for the info. I will be seeing the oncologist soon and I will ask what treatment is suggested.

I also asked John Hopkins and they replied: "first, if the receptors were determined on a biopsy they are to be repeated (EER repeated) as there are times in which the biopsy doesn't adequately represent the entire tumor. Second, if these findings are from a surgical specimen, then have them sent out for a second reading elsewhere for accuracy since it is odd. This is the type of case that should go to the breast cancer tumor board where your doctors work."

I guess I will have to wait and see.

    Hi there

I too was ER-, PR+, & HER2-. When I first got my cancer specs from the bx I was labeled ER+ 90% favorable, PR+, 95% favorable & HER2-. But after my lumpy I did the Oncotype test & my ER score was 6.4, with 6.5 being positive. So, I think in my case w/ my ER being borderline the Tamoxifen was prescribed. My MO said that doing adjuvant chemo w/ Tamoxifen would reduce my recurrence risk by half.

    Good luck and God bless

Hi again!, thats true, my mum's onco said that although Er was negative, it was probably a false negative so they usually consider it as Er+

Anyway its not easy to understand, my mum first dx was Er- Pr++ and her mets are Er+++ Pr- (i ve read today)

And i have also read my mums chemo was 4 cycles of AC (not taxol).

I think it depends on the country you are treated because i ve not seen many girls here treated with radiotherapy as a preventive treatment. In Spain when the surgery is a lumpectomy they apply radiotherapy in whole breast

I am meeting the oncologist Monday so I will have more information then. I know that I will be having radiotherapy, but I haven't met with with radiation oncologist so I'll know what kind of radiation I'll be having after I meet with that Doctor.

My tumor was tested at least three times, so I don't think it's an error. Anyway, I'll know more soon. The waiting sucks!!!!!

In my opinion these cancers are more similar to TNBC
