edited December 2015 in Waiting for Test Results

I'm going out my mind with fear. I found a breast lump 4 months ago and went to the doctors, she referred me to the breast clinic where I had a mammogram and scan and the consultant thought it was an oil cyst and he said there was some calcification. Also I had an indent in my breast that they think is caused by the huge amount of weight loss I have had. I have been dieting. They gave me an appointment for another scan which they said I may or may not have a biopsy at. That appointment was today. She said the lump hasn't grown and she felt it was an oil cyst but wanted to perform a biopsy to be safe so now I have a horrible 6 day wait for results and I'm terrified because I read that cancer causes

indents and also I'm a type 2 diabetic and I have read that increases my risk. I'm 44 years old. Please someone talk to me xx

I am so sorry you had to get a biopsy, but most of the time, the findings are benign.  Try and do something to take your mind off of the waiting.  Go out to dinner with friends.  Spend time with your favorite book.  Find something to pass the time and keep your mind busy.

    Hoping for benign results.

Sounds like you are being taken care of great. It is good that a biopsy was done as that is the only way to know what isn't (or is) going on. Remember that 80% of biopsies are benign.

Stay away from that 'Quack Dr. Google'! There is some great sites/info that can be found there, HOWEVER, there is also a lot of 'stuff' that is not all on the 'up and up'. Until you know what you might be dealing with, do yourself a favor and stay away. There is some that is designed to/ intended to scare.

Be glad that your Drs are being pro-ative, finding out what MIGHT be going on instead of 'blowing you off'.

Hopefully another voice of comfort: waiting for test results is the worst, emotionally. Getting out of the house to do something enjoyable is a grand idea. A movie, a stroll, spend time with friends. And come back to let us know what the results are!

Just giving you a hug as you wait. We could all tell you not to worry, but we all know that you will. Just know we are here and hoping for a benign result for you. Waiting is always the hard part. But, as pointed out, most breast lumps turn out to be nothing so hold on to this!

    MedicatingHug for you!
