Back in June I had an ultrasound done on a lump in my breast and was told by the radiologist that it's more than likely a fibroadenoma but he wanted to see me back in 6 months for another ultrasound to see if there were changes... Well I went this past Friday and they told me when I left to follow up with my obgyn and that office said they will make an appt if it came back abnormal... Well today I had a letters in the mail freon the ultrasound place stating that they found abnormalities and to schedule an appt with my dr asap... Anyone else have this happen? What were the abnormalities that were found? Could it have grown slightly? It doesn't feel any bigger but it does feel different... It feels as if there is a smaller growth developing on the larger older lump

Well asking on this site you will most likely find women that had cancer with lump changes. Just realize that not all lumps are cancerous. I did have abnormal changes after a 6 month recheck on my lump which had looked like a fibroadenoma and it did turn out to be cancer. They explained the changes they saw were that it had gotten slightly larger but the edges were now not smooth - they were more jagged/uneven which resembles a cancerous lump. At this point I know you are worried....don't automatically think it's cancer. I know you are scared....get a biopsy and see what they find. Good luck.

thanks for the reply! I'm just struggling with the anxiety of it at the moment because Monday seems so far away to find out what the results are... Did yours move any? I've read that fibroadenomas are freely moveable but mine seems to just roll when pressed it never moves that much... I wish I would've had it removed after then irate ultrasound but I had no insurance so was waiting it out until I had some now my insurance goes into effects the beginning of the year and we've also been ttc... :

Mine didn't move freely. Hang tight....I know the wait is horrible. I waited 5 days for results and found out this week 5 years ago that I had BC. Odds are in your favor....a majority of lumps are benign. Praying for you. :)

so I'm going to my flow up with my dr today about the abnormal ultrasound of what they thought was a fibroadenoma... Is there anything that I should ask him from your experience?

Just he they would recommend a biopsy at this time. IMO an excisional biopsy should be considered now. I would want it out for peace of mind but remember the vast majority of breast lumps are benign. Good luck and keep us posted.....

In my experience, the doctor (a breast surgeon with about 30 years of experience) did another ultrasound and described exactly what she was seeing as she did it, showing it to me as well. I think that would also be very helpful in your case. For me, she described 3 out of the 4 edges of the fibroadenoma as looking exactly as they should: smooth, defined edges, with the lesion being quite a bit wider than it was tall. She then showed me the one side she was iffy about (one of the shorter sides), it wasn't as clear (I had very dense breasts) and said that the iffy edge was why they wanted to do a biopsy. In my case, the breast surgeon also did the biopsy. When it came back negative (came back as a fibroadenoma) she gave me the option to wait 6 months or to have it excised. I asked for her opinion and she said she would like to remove it. I did and I'm glad I trusted her judgment, as you'll see from my signature.

well I didn't see my obgyn as he was the one who ordered each ultrasound his nurse just stated that he wantsme to see the surgeon that I saw previously and they are still trying to get me in with the stupid holiday schedule... But she did say that the report states that it seems to be the same mass just larger she didn't say how much larger or anything else so now I'm waiting on that appointment... I thank you ladies for your input! You've definitely helped calm my anxiety I'm just worried now that i may be pregnant and not sure how to deal with having it removed or not during pregnancy

I met with the surgeon today... Good thing is he thinks it's still definitely a fibroadenoma but he wasn't sure how much bigger it has gotten or what's necessarily changed for some reason because all the radiologist sent him was how big it is... But he is okay with leaving it but since I want it out he will remove it! Looking forward to making the appt when the new year comes and my insurance is in effec
