BEFORE REQUESTING ACCESS FOR PICTURE FORUM
Comments

Since the picture forum is not part of bco, have you tried pm'ing nowheregirl or lilah?
-
Monis - I haven't been able to get in since Saturday or Sunday either. I sent Fumi an email, but haven't heard anything back from her yet. So anyway, it's not just you....
-
it's not just you. I haven't been able to get in either. I sent nowheregirl a pm over the weekend. She must be busy. I hope she's on a fantastic vacation!!!
-
Monis -- what message are you getting when you are unable to log in?
-
Sorry girls. We definitely had a glitch in our member account files on the server. Some of them just went unreadable and some got totally corrupted. I knew it wouldn't be a quick & easy fix but trust me, I was going to fix it as quick as possible. However I had 2 business trips this past week - my life has been like this since 9 month ago when I was promoted to a new role. On top of it, my pc crashed out of the blue so I had to fix it before anything else.
Now I believe everything has been back to normal. If not, then let me know.
-
Fumi - Thank you, as always, for everything you do. We're all so blessed to have you watching our backs!
-
Hi. Is this forum up and running yet? I sent a pm to get access but no response yet. Hope to hear from her soon.
-
Yes, the forum is working, however, it is not a part of bco and is run by volunteers. Be patient, please
-
Thank you for the quick update.
-
I sent a pm requesting access too. I have been on the site for a while but it's hard to find out all of the info to request access to the pictures!
-
I am in absolute aw at the time so many survivors have taken to give back and make this journey easier for other breast cancer survivors. I cry as I type this for I honestly never thought I would need the support of others in this way. I had a DM in Feb 2015 for stage 3 HER2+ breast cancer with lymph node involvment. Im getting ready to finish up chemo and start radiation. I have met with plastic surgeons but im just not sure what I want to choose for surgery. Ive been told the LD with implants are the best choice for me. I hope to hear and learn more from other ladies that haven chosen this procedure. I also would like to see what to expect thru photos. I hope you guys will consider accepting e to your site. Thank you for everything!
-
Ladies,
Please read the forum header carefully. Most important is the fact that the picture forum is not part of BCO and is run, completely voluntarily, by two dedicated women. Like all of us, they have busy lives and have had bc as well. Many thanks to them and please be patient. The picture forum is not a business site nor does it have full time dedicated staff. -
Hi ladies,
Sorry but my computer died and I will have to wait for a couple of weeks to have it back home. I could come and check my PM's from work but not as often as I could from home. So I am afraid it could take a few days or more for you girls to hear back from me.

I'm requesting access to the before and after pictures for DIEP procedure. My DIEP is scheduled in NOLAfor Tuesday, October 6th and I would love to see some realistic photos. The websites with obviously post their best. I want to see the real ones.
-
Tmgilbert1071 - Please read the instructions in the header of this thread carefully. The picture forum is run by two selfless volunteers and is not in any way a part of BCO. Please follow the instructions above and good luck to you!
-
jo,
Just bear in mind that the picture forum is run by independently by volunteers. Depending on what's going on in their lives, they may not always be able to respond quickly
-
hello, I would like access to the picture forum. I think maybe uploads of myself could be helpful to others also. I had a bmx with immediate implant exchange almost 4 years ago, but then cancer struck again so I had chemo and rads this last year, but the rads have totally changed my one implant and its incapsulated and painful now. I'm lopsided. I'm looking for inspiration on how to fix it! Thanks!
-
I am sending a request to the picture forum. Thanks.
-
Chantal,
Please read the original post for information on how to request access to the picture forum.

hi moderators,
I have contacted nowheregirl in regards to getting access to picture forum. I have not heard back from her and my post was March, 29 2016. I am so confused about how to follow through with this. I got a response from the moderators and they said to private message nowheregirl which I did. I don't see a response. Can any help direst me on how to proceed in trying to get into the picture forum? I appreciate all the time taken in setting up such a forum and feel I would benefit from this picture forum.
Thank you,
Remi50

it took several months for me to get access. They watch how much you post on this site to make sure you are for real. I was getting impatient. I don't know if another message would help or not. The picture forum is real helpful so I'd keep after it.
-
well here is my mess that I am dealing with. All under the muscle not dual plane. Woke up with saline implants... never agreed to any of it because I was unconscious at the time. I have a consult in another city with another recon surgeon in a week. This is what he will see. I will post a before photo also. Hmmm . Before photo appears to be first. The all under the muscle pocket are in different area codes. This guy is supposed to be good. I could use all the info I can get before deciding what to do. So I am politely requesting access to the picture forum.
Thank you,
Yaniza

hang in there! You still look beautiful and hopefully the experts on this site will honor your request so you can correspond with real people that have already experienced reconstruction thatmay help guide you on what to do next!! The old cliche," A picture is worth a thousand words" speaks volumes to woman in our position. I feel your pain and sympathize with you! i can speak for myself that I just want to have a reletively good result with the reconstruction. I'm not looking for perfection but I was happier with my tissue expanders and seeking the same as you!

remi,
The picture forum is not part of BCO in any way. Nowheregirl maintains it voluntarily. Like all of us, she may have other things going on in her life.
Yaniza,
I am sorry for what you are going through and hope your consult is helpful. Please see my message to remi regarding the picture forum. The mods can do little about access to the forum as it is run by a bco member but is not part of bco. Fumi (nowheregirl) does this on her own
-
Perhaps those of us whose situations relate can help each other out. Perhaps that's already happening by private messaging. At any rate thank you both for the replys. Reconstruction is obviously related to augmentation but soooo very different psychologically and surgically. We do need access to more good honest photographic info... not just the best results... but results considered acceptable by the surgeons. My surgeon suggested I could learn to like the results. I most definitely will not be getting used to these saline implants that are all behind my pectoral muscles... with room for another breast between.

Hi exbrnexgrl,
Yes, that's correct that it's privately run. My mistake..Things don't always compute properly between stress and residual effects from chemo... I'm sure nowheregirl is very busy and may not regularly be able to monitor the requests. Other than privately messaging people, has anyone else suggested to the moderators to start up a place on this board where we can send in pictures and have an open dialogue with each other . Maybe woman may want share their pics with headless shots and have the opportunity to view and converse with real life breast reconstruction situations. Just throwing it out there. I know I wish I could have viewed and discussed my concerns with other breast reconstruction patients. I too was so disappointed that I never heard back from nowheregirl or had to have so many posts to be approved. I know there are some preditors out there, however I think the positive of having easy access outweighs the risks of not being granted access. There has to be a way that one can be approved in a manner that is easy yet properly verified. Would love any feedback.

I'm not aware of why/if the mods ever considered making a picture forum part of this site. I do know that on some forums, IBC for instance, they specifically ask that you not post pics. You might want to ask them
-
Remi50, I can't blame my lack of mental acuity on chemo perhaps post-traumatic stress. I will go through the process of gaining access to the photos but I'm a bit afraid of the challenge.
Perhaps photos of the process of reconstruction might be considered sexual or obscene which seems ridiculous to me. I just posted my headless photos with no regret... and I am a typically shy person. My reasoning is that I need info and so might others in a similar situation so it is the right thing to do.
You seem pretty clear-headed to me.
Cheers

I think that is a great idea Remi. When I was first diagnosed I was concerned up the cosmetic results of a lumpectomy. Everything I found online was advertising for plastic surgeons that "fixed" lumpectomies people were unhappy with. I would be happy to share my results/pics on a forum here to help others trying to make surgical decisions.
Yaniza, I hope your consult goes well and maybe the PS will be able to show you some pictures of his work.
-
I think a picture thread would be awesome. Big just for reconstruction but radiation also. I was constantly googling photos of radiation effects during and after.
