So, 4.5 years ago I had radiation (mastectomy, no recon). Even though my skin survived ok without any blistering or burns, I started to have itchy, red rashes after a few months. I was not concerned, since my doctor was sure they were not skin mets, just 'skin changes' . I have been applying cortisol cream, which seemed to help a little, but those nasty rashes would always come back around the mastectomy area.

Recently, I started to take turmeric supplements and just in a few days I realised my skin has cleared and smoothed, no sign of the rash!! I wasn't even applying the cortisol cream and realised that it was the turmeric. Now, I am not claiming, that it's an all cure magic supplement, but happy to see it helped with the rashes. If I can see the external results, maybe it is doing something good internally too... Hmm

    TS, I take it in capsules, just before I have soup with lots of pepper at lunch time. I also use it in indian cooking. I know there is so much information about bioavailability, but I just love the idea of doing something good to my body and the fact that it helps my rashes is encouraging me! I think I will be taking it for a long time.. I also switched to Femara from Tamoxifen two weeks ago and have no SE. Maybe it's another benefit of turmeric? Who knows, but can be!

    How great it is for you! congrats!

    I knew turmeric had antiinflammatory effects but nice to hear about visual proof of it.

    Thanks for this. I too have been struggling with rashes around the area where I had radiation, and the only treatment I've gotten is the steroid cream. The cream temporarily stops the itching, but is not curing it. I'll have to try this and see if it helps.

    I would second that. My sensitivity after operation and radiation on left chest wall went away completely after I started taking turmeric capsules. I was also low on vitamin B12 so got injections at the same time. My neuropathy on the soles of my feet( cotton wool) also went awa
