Gardening, anyone?

I had indoor plants until I adopted Mocca, a cat who loved salad. She ate half an African violet on the table (from the back), chewed a mother-in-law's tongue to bits (supposedly poisonous) and sampled everything else. We have a grow light set up in the basement on a timer and grow starts from seeds there. I have an artificial orchid from my desk at work in the living room - real ones are deathly poisonous to cats. Amaryllis and lilies are deadly and the list goes on.

TwoHobbies- those photos are spectacular! We are still fairly moderate here in southern Oregon. It's crisp and cool, but sunny with no wind. Enjoying my coffee, looking out and listening to the birds and some other animals I can hear on a nearby farm when it's quiet. My furry friends have also found the perfect blend of indoor/outdoor appreciation. The screen door is open, and they venture out for a bit, then come back in to keep me company.

TwoHobbies- there's always a sunny window here for a friend. 🙋

Nice pix Flavia. We saw four black bears at the Okefenokee Swamp reserve yesterday including a mama and her two cubs. They moved to fast to photograph though.

I loved watching a fox pouncing on field mice in a nearby field during the Summer.

Years ago in the same nearby field a mother black bear with 3 cubs were eating apples when Daughter tried to sneak up for a closer look at the cubs. We got Daughter back before the mother got worked up. I could only think of the bear scene from the movie *Old Yeller*.

The cute skunk that eats bird seed from the ground near our bedroom window hasn't been around for a few cold nights.

1. I love bear stories! Here's mine. A couple of years ago my family was staying at a little cabin by the river in Red River, New Mexico. ( The Texas Alps.) The owner had warned us about bears in the area, given us all the tips, "a fed bear is a dead bear," etc. We were out for the day and just got back in time to find the owner on our porch with a rifle and a walkie talkie - the porch was a mess - chairs and table overturned, kids treasures scattered, shoes and rain gear drug through mud - we just missed a mother bear and her cub tearing through the camp! The kids thought it was great and were sorry we had missed it. I was, too, until I thought about it. And the bears were fine. They were chased back up the hill to the area where their den was. For an Air Force brat, this was incredible! Lind

Magical Bean- it is pouring here today. Rain in the valley, snow in the mountains, but we love it! I hear it is so mild back east. Warmer in some parts of New England than here? El Ninjo doing it's thing.....

Same here with weird weather. Running AC for humidity. Toreador watches and severe thunderstorms forecasted for 2am. 78 here today. We had 1 freeze before Thanksgiving. I have a confused Bluebonnet growing in my garden and others coming up. Feliz Navidad! Linda

Booklady: Toreador watches? would we get to listen to earworm arias from Carmen? Unseasonably warm up here too, though no weather alerts. I'm starting to worry about my roses getting confused.
