Hot flashes

Hi, I was diagnosed with triple negative stage 2 breast cancer in 2013. I was in full menopause when I was 47. I was diagnosed shortly after.

I had and still have severe hot flashes, so much so I don't want to go anywhere. My understanding is a person diagnosed with triple negative cancer can not be put on horomones.

I have tried everything over the counter and even put on Paxil. Nothing helps.

If I have something on my mind that worries me I go into a severe hot flash.

My question is, what other things can I try to help me live a better life

Hi Lrriver, sorry that you have to be here, but wanted to say welcome!

Until other members post here, you may want to take a look at the Forum: Hormonal Therapy - Before, During and After, where you'll find many threads on hot flashes. We're sure the experience and advise from others will help you deal with this side effect. You can also read through the pages of this interesting article: Menopause Symptoms: Hot Flashes that will help you understand what causes them, and you'll learn more strategies for reducing their frequency or severity.

Hope this helps! Let us know how you're doing.

I am also 47, in active treatment now, was having similar issues and I am now on effexor which has cut my hot flashes way down, maybe ask about trying that?

IMO Effexor is more effective than Paxil for hot flashes. There is also Neurotin. OTC Icool can also be beneficial. Good luck.....
