July 2015 Surgery Sisters

still have TEs... They suck! Expansions suck! I don't know if it's normal to be in that much pain after each one! I have 450cc expanders, filled to 530 right now. PS wants to get them to 600 with two more expansions and my exchange surgery is scheduled for February 8th!

It's been awhile since I've been here. My surgery was back in July and tomorrow I have my exchange surgery. I had fills about every two weeks. The fills were very painful. I was going to try to do it every week but no way. I had physical therapy - stretches & massages- mainly to prevent lymphodema. What a godsend that was. It may b due to working out scar tissues/swelling reduce but I felt so much better afterwards. The te's didn't bother as much. I'm a little nervous about the exchange, mainly due to not really knowing what the results will be - will I be happy with the results, will there be issues etc. especially since I have a uni. I just have to trust my ps.
See you on the other side. -
Mavski80, good luck with your exchange surgery!
-
Mavski80, hope all went well today and welcome to the squishy side. Please join us on the Exchange board.

things seemed to go well with my exchange. I was ready to go home when there was an issue with my drain filling up too quickly. The doctors were called back, had to do another I've (not easy for me) and take care of a blood vessel. So, Needless to say I felt like I was run over by a truck. Had nausea but managed with anti nausea meds. Slept for a couple of days but feeling a little better. looking forward to getting the drain out. -
It's been a long time since I've checked in here. I finished Chemo in October, had my exchange December 21 and start arimidex this week. I'm worried about a thickening I felt last night in my left breast. I'm trying to get ahold of my MO for a diagnostic mammo. I chose a unilateral mx and was happy with the decision until last night. Now I wish I'd just had the bilateral in July so that I wouldn't have this eating at me.
-
Carolyn: ugh, that OMG it's back fear. We make the best decision we can at the time we make it. Come back and post (or PM me) when you get results?
-
Thanks, Queenmomcat, I will. I've already called my MO again this morning and they promised to get back to me within 2 hours.
-
Carolyn62, praying for it to be nothing. I unfortunately know how you feel. I had umx and am completely paranoid about my remaining breast. I am going to have it removed during my recon surgery. I have a genetic mutation that increases my chances of a new cancer by up to 30%.
-
Carolyn. . .sending prayers. I had BMx and I'm still paranoid. Enough that I'm willing to pay out of pocket for MRI every 2-3 years. Hoping insurance will pay to check on silicone foobs. Please update when you can.

Thank you, Scottie. I didn't think I'd be this paranoid. What was I thinking?? My MO is going to schedule a mammogram. I am trying my best to let it go until there's really something to worry about
-
My surgeon said that the lump doesn't feel cancerous, but she ordered a diagnostic mammogram. I hope I can get in right away and know one way or the other. I have very dense breasts, so I really want to have a mx on the left side at some point. The worry is just too much
-
I hope it's nothing, Carolyn
-
Carolyn. . .can your surgeon also order and follow up the same day, i.e., ultrasound? Best wishes and hope everything is fine.
Scottie
-
Yes, Scottiemom, it's a breast center and they can do it all that day. My surgeon was reassuring, but of course I'm still anxious. Ugh
-
Carolyn, did you have your mammogram? How did it go?
