On the cancer roller coaster....again
Hi all My name is Julie. I'm a 53 yr old mother of 4 (33,21,20 and 18) I've been married to my high school sweetie for 24 yrs. In 2009, quite by accident, I was dx. with NSCLC Adenocarcinoma. It was a great shock, even more so I have had an uncle, aunt and cousin all die from lung cancer. It was a relief and a thrill to hit the 5 year mark. Five years of CT scans,x-rays and doctors appts. waiting for the knock on the door, letting the doctor in to let me know if the cancer was back. It didn't. Its now 6 yrs from my lung diagnoses and removal of my right middle lobe. 6 years cancer free... I Maybe I was to confident. Oct 27,2015 I had appointment with my primary for yearly physical. I reminded her that I wanted het to check my bump because it seemed bigger. The look on he face really to be by surprised and scared me. She set up a date for a biopsy ,diagnostic biopsy, ultrasound. Whatever I needed done at my appointment and not have to reschedule. After all is said and done my body has made a new cancer, nothing to do with the lung Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I've time to absorb all the info and started my first round of infusion. Side thought... is it chemo or infusion? The plan of attack: my tumor is 5cm by4cm my doctor is starting me on Taxotere and Cytoxan to help shrink the tumor. After 4 -6 cycles, the tumor will have shrunk smaller enough to do a lumpectomy then a series of localized radiation and finally.. some sort of hormone for 5 years , because both receptors are positive. Now the final straw... the day my mom, daughter and I went to pick out a wig for me, my mom got that call.. we are sorry to tell you, you have breast cancer. I need to wrap my head around All of this. Has anyone in this group had more than 1 type of cancer? Why has my body done this and is it going to get better at doing this. I hope Ive finally found the right way of doing this I'm getting stupid now and I'm only in my second week.. what will I be like 2 months from now? thanks for letting me ramble

Julie, I thought I would jump in here, say hello. There are many ladies that are on this website that have had multiple cancers.
I had my dx & tx 2 years ago. Had skin cancer cut out this summer. I do not think skin cancer really counts.
I had 8 infusions of chemo. I assume it's called an infusion because of the chemo slowly dripping into your veins. Yes, I got really "stupid". I put orange juice in my coffee, instead of milk, numerous times. I would stick the detergent & fabric softener in the wrong spot, over & over. I had a difficult time concentrating, still do. Chemo brain is real, but it does get better.,very slowly.
Ramble away, that's the beauty of BCO. We can rant, whine & be honest. I hope your moms dx is a early one.
