Thank you, LindaLou
This morning we lost our "swell sister," LindaLou53, to metastatic breast cancer. After her initial diagnosis and treatment in 2000 she developed lymphedema, and joined us here on the bc.org boards in 2006. The amazing generosity of her posts was matched only by her expertise in making all things medical accessible to all of us here. Her photo essay, "Visible signs of Lymphedema" has helped so many of us define and monitor our lymphedema ups and downs, and continues to challenge all of us to do all we can to maintain control of this rotten condition.

LindaLou's husband, Virgil, posted this news of her passing this morning:
On Friday morning, November 27, 2015 at 9:49a the love of my life and my wife of 43 yrs and 8 months slipped away from me into the eternal embrace of her loving heavenly Father. Linda fought a valiant battle against breast cancer and its complications since July 13, 2000. Ultimately the cancer spread and that final long and ever so gradual deterioration began near the beginning of May 2015. She fought even harder and endured many setbacks in her battle over this past summer as we tried first one approach and then another. She passed away in our home with her caregiver, Shirley, her younger sister, Jackie and myself at home with her. Funeral arrangements are in progress.
She was my Rock and we stood side-by-side until the very end. May she Rest in the Peace that she so richly deserves.
I just want to say how grateful I am for all Linda contributed to us, not only here but on StepUp-SpeakOut and in her assistance to lymphedema researchers and her advocacy for the entire lymphedema community. Thank you, Linda! Job well done. Rest in peace.
Binney

So sad. Her photo essay was so awesome and helpful. RIP, Linda

Linda was a generous and invaluable help to me when I wrote a continuing education course for nurses, about lymphedema. She was both a nurse and an expert on LE, and she was kind to both donate her pictorial to the project, and to be an expert reviewer. Linda also donated her time by participating in primary research related to LE, from which we all benefit. Her loss to our lymphedema community is huge, and I hope that by some means her family will find a link to this page, so that they may understand how many lives she touched and helped through her support of her 'swell sisters' as Binney so aptly put it.
So very sad,
Carol

I'm so very sorry.... She has been in my prayers... I will never forget her kind words and support she gave me through private messages when I was diagnosed in 2012. She gave me hope and strength to fight and I will never forget that.

I never posted anything back when I was diagnosed. But before my double mastectomy, I found LindaLou's posts and photos in her thread "The Flat Look Vs Prosthesis (with Pics)" and at breastfree.org with her story.

Honest, kind, generous, wise, practical, informative, systematic and anticipating my next question (about size). I was reassured that things would be okay one way or another.
Thank you LIndaLou53

I just saw this, she was smart, and level-headed, and articulate. So sorry about the news.
