Breast heavily bruised with greenish tint after revision surgery
I had immediate bilateral diep reconstruction in June and revision surgery on Nov 4th with reduction, shaping and lift.
I've been really sore . . .but otherwise everything has been going good until tonight I noticed the entire lower half of my right breast is a very dark, bruised looking color. When I poke at it the area has a greenish tint. It's a little 'harder' than the other breast but not noticeably hotter or colder. The incisions look fine. Seems like it's come up pretty suddenly.
Of course it's a holiday . . . and I am 6 hours from my surgeon. I will definitely call in the morning but thought I would post in case anyone has had experience with something similar and thinks this is an emergency situation.
Any ideas? Thanks so much for any suggestions or even if you can help relieve my concerns overnight!

It sounds like bruising, it's like a small amount of blood gets into the tissue. I had a pretty large lumpectomy, and it developed a greenish looking sort of bruising, very faint, but t got larger and much darker. This happened two or three weeks after the surgury, and my breast looked awful. They called it a hematoma, you can look that up and see if thats what it sounds like you have . I think it's just a fancy way of saying you have a bruise. I hope this helps, and I don't think a few days will matter, and you can call your doctor. But if you are really worried, don't you have a triage number to call if there were any problems? I am thinking you are okay, and will be okay. ((((lynn85)))) (that's a hug!)

lynn, I had a second DIEP revision Nov. 2. The bottom of my breast is dark too,but not green. It's still a little swollen. Like you not hot or cold, incision looks good. While there was obvious bruising after surgery, it seems like all of a sudden it took on the "dark" appearance. I'm pretty sure the same thing happened after the first revision. My husband says it just looks like part of the healing process.
By all means, still call your doctor in the morning. If you are losing sleep over it tonight, call now, there should be a doctor on call you can help you.
Good luck.

You can take a pic and email it, save yourself a long drive. I believe it's normal gravity pulling the blood down.

thank you all! I feel much better now.
I took some Tylenol pm and fell asleep. And will try to call as soon as I find the emergency number. I'm out of town visiting family and since all is well I left my surgery folder at home
The triage number (which I have on my phone) just has a holiday message and no way to leave a message or an emergency number. I find that very odd...
Here is a pic.... Does this look normal?

lynn, it sort of does look like blood pooling, like a bruise, like mine started. Peopls will come and ask you to delete that pic, i guess you are not supposed to post pics. I don't know why that is, I don't mind seeing them. But- I am not a doctor, and I don't know for sure. You should call your doc with your concerns. He/She can tell you more. That IS very weird, and definitely not right, that no one is at triage!?!! WTF?
