I had a double mastecomy in June and tissue expanders placed. 3 weeks ago I had my tissue expanders removed and silicone implants inserted. I still feel like I have the tissue expanders in. I'm still tight and feel like I'm wearing a very tight bra. I see my surgeon in a couple of weeks and will ask if this gets better over time. Has anyone else found this happening? Thank you. :)

Hi - I had a double mastectomy with tissue expanders Sept. 2013. Had the "gummy bear" implants in April 2014. Sorry to say, it still feels like I have the expanders in. Extremely tight to the point of it being unbearable at times where I just want to rip them out. Before the exchange my surgeon said I am going to feel so much better - that has not been the case at all. When discussing this horrible feeling with my breast doctor, plastic surgeon and oncologist, at times it seems they don't know what the hell I am talking about, even seem puzzled, and their only answer is "time and patience". I have been to two breast cancer support groups within the last 2 years, and there has been nobody in these groups that has gone, or is going through, what I am going through now. That being said, I guess it gets better over time for most. Good luck to you and I wish you well on your recovery.

oh Gosh Sheli, I'm sorry you are going through this. I have had this iron chest feeling for 5.5 months which was when the expanders were put in place and I just can't stand it anymore. I really hope we can both get some comfort.
