Hello out there. I'm curious if any of you TN's are in my predicament. I have an auto immune condition that has me with leukopenia and neutropenia before my TN diagnosis.

Because of that, my onc says I don't qualify for any clinical trials and I will definitely need neupogen/neulasta injections. She also said my chemo might take twice as long as normal. Greaaaat.

Anybody have the same issue so

I had neutropenia during chemo treatment and with the help of the Neulasta injections, managed to get through treatment more-or-less without delays, but with a few hospital stays, but they did delay my Herceptin a few times as I had infections and had to wait until my white count came back up a bit, which it rarely did but in the end we just decided to plough on with the treatment as I felt it was more important for me to get the Herceptin. Hopefully the injections will help you like they did for me. My white count remained very low for ages after treatment.

thanks for the reply, Amy. My WBC is hovering around 1.8, and neutrophils at 850. I can only imagine what they will be after starting chemo.

    HI, Amy

I am afraid your white count will need close watching since it's already so low.

I had neutropenia and was hospitalized after my first treatment, my white count was 0.03 and I spiked a high fever; they slammed me with antibiotics and I did not get an infection. I was coming from a normal white count before though. So I am sure they will be keeping a close eye on you and monitoring your dosages carefully.

I wish the very best for you and hope you will be on the other side of all of this successfully.

    Best wishes,

    Mary
