What ALL kinds of 'furry/feathered' friends do you have?

I love my Pembroke and the horses but in some ways Buggsy gives me a lot they don't. ( They give me a lot that Buggsy can't though. .

Buggsy is a little (3lb. 2 oz) Mini Rex (bunny) that just loves to 'snuggle' for hours on end. He also likes to go on walks - yes he is a bunny but goes on his harness/leash. Does he 'walk' as good as a dog - no but much better than a cat or ferret.

Not for me at all as I am afraid of birds because they will peck me (fear goes back to childhood), but for some their Feathered Friends give so much to them.

    This is my dear friend, Boobas. Rescued all black short hair. She's been by my side and it's been so good spending quality time this last two years through treatment. During chemotherapy she slept on my pillow and licked my bald head. Is that sweet or what!? This is last night, I am recovering from reconstruction surgery.

    I am owned by two domestic shorthair (aka “alley” or “moggy”) cats. Heidi, plushy and black, is a 10-yr-old spayed female; Happy, ginger-patch tabby on white, is an 8-yr old neutered male. Both were adopted from foster homes--Heidi at 10 mos. and Happy at only 8 wks. (He still thinks he’s a kitten).

    My turtle will be having his 40th birthday this Sunday (that is, 40 years since I "adopted" him. He is older than 40

    Great topic! This is my woolly friend, BamBam. I bought him while I was on chemo last spring. He is a cross between a Coburg Fox ewe and an Ouessant ram, so he has the color from his mom and the horns from his dad. He is incredibly gentle and affectionate, even to the chickens!

    Oh He's gorgeous Split-bean.

    We have 2 doggies:

    Emma is a Cattle Dog cross. We have had her for 10 years approx. She's my protector.

    Darcy is a Lab cross. Had him almost 7 years. He's 40kilos of loveable stupidity.

    We also have 4 birds. Two are Galahs and are outside in an aviary, Georgie and Colin.

    The other 2 are Rosellas; Penny and Sheldon. They are inside birds.

    We get wildlife rescue birds to nurse back to health and most are returned to the wild once better. The ones we have kept have issues and are not able to be released.

    Will include a couple of pics for those who are not familiar with Galahs and Rosellas. (Not my birds in the pics but mine are the same)

    We have four rescues from the beagle rescue and a schnauzer cross who belongs to my ailing FIL. We also have a 13 yo calico cat at our "in town" house. We have six barn buddies (feral and semi feral kitties) at our farm plus two Lamancha wether goats and a donkey from the equine rescue. I love all of them so much and they are all so wonderful. Good thing I never add up my feed and vet bills.

    We have a pug named Hagrid, a puggle named Rosie, and a deaf Australian shepherd mix rescue named Beretta.  We also have a juliana pig named Sir Snorts Alot.  We call him Snorty.  My daughter has a leopard gecko named Roman, a turtle named Tootsie and a velveteen rabbit called LP.  Out side, we have 13 chickens and 8 quail.  We have names for some of the chickens...Bob, Big Momma, Little Momma, Pigeon, Nitro, Houdini, Blossum, and Caramel.

     

    We love them all.

    Farmerlucy, four beagles? How is your house still standing? Lol. I loved our beagle (1) to death and he was so gentle, loving, wouldn't hurt a fly, but omg, the chaos. I could go on forever about the insane trouble he got in to.

    imageimageThis is Simon. We rescued him from a No-Kill shelter when he was 6 years old. He is now 12. He has feline diabetes and is doing well with a lot of care from his Mommy. We also had Jack who was a beautiful Buff colored kitty with orange tabby markings but he passed away from Cancer and we miss him lots, especially Simon.

    Beautiful kitties. We've had dogs for so long I'd forgotten how wonderful kitties can be. Some of our "feral" barn kitties are so friendly and each has their own personality.

    Well I have 2 chocolate labradors - Charlie and Niner

    I have 6 birds - 1 green cheek (his name is Peeps, but he thinks his name is Booger), 1 lineolated parakeet (Scruffy) and 4 american parakeets (blue bird, green bird, yellow bird and crazy bird - yes those are their names.

    I have 3 fish tanks. One has fancy goldfish and the other two have southamerican cichlids

    Nancy - Clairabelle the donkey is hard to forget. If she thinks she needs more attention the Onkey, Onkey, Onkey reverberates across the property.

    We recently moved my FIL to the VA nursing home, they have a cabinet type cage with these little fellows in it.

    I imagine the veterans really enjoy watching them.We do have a couple types of duck that make their home around the pond along with some Canadian geese and a blue heron we call Jasper.

    My name on here kind of says what my main interest is. I am a wildlife rehabilitator and I specialize in squirrels. They are what gave me the strength to fight so hard to beat back my stage four breast cancer. I love all animals though and have two dogs, three cats, two sulcata tortoises, three prairie dogs, two birds, a herd of dairy goats, and a Clydesdale horse. I also have a three legged coyote named Molly that I love dearly.

    Sqrlady - You win the furry friend diversity award! You family sounds amazing. Do you milk your goats? (Dumb question probably.) A Clyesdale? Amazing. Our towny dogs were tortured by a sassy squirrel who delighted in antagonizing them AND getting me in trouble with the neighbor so I relocated him and a couple others to our farm so they can torture the goats! Our goats are Lamancha wethers.

    This is Ava, she is our bundle of joy! we just got her this weekend just been as she was at my mums house until we moved to a place we could have her.

    Ava means Life in Latin. Love fur babies!!! She is going to keep me strong through the treatment phase of my BC journey

    Welcome Amber! Ava looks like a love bug. I bet she's gonna be smart as a whip.

    So sorry you find yourself here. It totally and completely sucks. My DD turns 26 on St. Patrick's Day. Do you celebrate a St Patrick's Day in New Zealand? I'll bet Ava would like toherd some sheep in a few months. How old is she?

    Hi FarmerLucy :) I do love how this site connects others not only from around the world but also through a difficult time for each of us.

    It does totally and completely suck! However, this network along with staying positive makes it easier

    HAHA St Patricks day is a great reason to get together all dressed in green and party big time! had some good ones when I was at Uni.

    Ava is just on 3 months old... she hasnt shown much hearding instinct at this time, just a whole lot of energy, love and more energy.

    She spent the last month on 5 acres at my parents house about 8 hour drive from us with my our family dogs Duetz and Piper in the bottom middle photo.

    Once we have taken her through basic dog training I would like to get into Agility with her :)

    not very furry, but my son bought a small farm with lots of armadillos. there was a huge friendly Siamese there , left by someone, but it disappeared. armaddillos aren't fun to play with, except kick ball. And are hard to pet.

    From top to bottom, Chevy a 12 year old gelding, part Morgan, Quarter Horse and Draft I've been riding this summer. Leo is my three-legged cat brought home as a 3 week old kitten with an amputated back leg due to a birth defect and Skunky, the guinea pig. I don't have photos of my other cat, Ellis, the other guinea pig or our 6 year old Goldendoodle but we have a houseful and I don't live in the country. If I did, there'd be goats, a cow, many barn cats and a herd of horses and a German Shepherd or two... I'm a country girl at heart.
