Waiting! Waiting on the insurance to approve tests, waiting on the test to be done (genetics), waiting on my surgeon's office to schedule surgery. They were supposed to start working on scheduling Friday and when I called at 2:30 today you could tell they had not done anything. Tomorrow they are getting a call every hour until I have a date and time for surgery. You would think they would understand how frustrating this is and the way I feel like ticking timebomb. Sorry to vent but I am very frustrated tonight!!!

    Songbird72, sorry you are here joining this group but glad you found us as it is the place to vent!

    Take a deep breath. Take another. You are not ticking. Understand that the tumor did not just appear yesterday or last week so waiting for the tortoise-like movement of med staff is not going to do you any harm. We have all learned that waiting is just about the hardest part of this journey so we absolutely do understand what you are feeling. Take another deep breath. They may very well understand how frustrating it is, or have a good idea because they have heard it many, many times before but I doubt they are sitting around with nothing to do. Yes, if you want to call often tomorrow, go ahead but remember, you want them on your side so each time you call make nice.

    It does get better, I promise. Let us know how you do.

    Yes, it does get better. No, your tumor is not growing out of control while you are helplessly at the mercy of bureaucracy. But that bureaucracy thrives on inertia (and counts on patients’ inability or unwillingness to force things to move along). So it’s totally reasonable to be persistent in putting your providers' (including third-party) feet to the fire when it comes to scheduling and getting your information in a timely fashion. Your body is the only one you are going to get, and you shouldn’t be afraid to let your providers know how valuable it is!

    Songbird, I understand exactly how you feel I wanted my cancer out and could not rest until after surgery. But I understand that the growth was slow and in a couple of weeks it was not going to spread to lymph nodes.

    Thank you for the support and words of encouragement guys. For some reason, nights are my hardest. I feel better this morning but am still going to be nicely persistent this morning. ;) I appreciate you letting me vent!

    I called this morning and they have the surgery scheduled for Wednesday, December 2.

    Wonderful. At least you have that behind you. Now try and relax for the next week as worrying will not make the time pass any quicker.
