Andrea- best wishes for a successful, non open incision surgery, and quick recovery. Try not to think of Littleblue's spaghetti or you might bust open some stitches!
Jen- BAAAAHAHAHA !!!! You cracked me UP with that bravely told story. Damn that dog AND your husband.
KSusan- Hoping your wife can nip whatever she has in the bud and no secondary infections, and is well by the time the family comes. It couldn't be from yelling on Saturday afternoons could it? Just wondering, haha.
Hoping everyone has a peaceful and enjoyable, minimal stress week leading into the holiday.
Yesterday Jack and I did a library visit where the kids read to the dogs. I loved how one mother (who was searching unsuccessfullyfor a children's book about Thanksgiving) explained to her child how Thanksgiving was better than Christmas since "Christmas has become just about presents, and Thanksgiving is about people. People and food. And I love people and I love food!" I swear there's a book contract in there sonewhere!

Hah. If she gets better, she can go to the next home game. Urgent Care doc says it's an ear infection. More amoxicillin. I'm sure I still have an ear infection as well, but I'm not in pain so I'm treating it by leaving it alone.
Sister found out that the weird recommendation from her BS was incorrect; she will just have tamoxifen after radiation. We will be comparing tattoo constellations at Thanksgiving.
-
Andrea, best of luck with surgery tomorrow. I'd ask if you were sick of hanging out with doctors yet, but since you're a nurse....
I saw that you plan to go back to work in February...no escape from the doctors. It's probably nicer when you aren't the patient.
Susan, enough ear infections! How's the damp weather?
Kbee...I'd ask for more specifics on you're Vegas Weekend, but we all know that "what happens in Vegas...." Nov. 2-5 of last year, DH and I spent a few nights at The Mirage for our 15th Anniversary. Had I only known what I would be going through in the next year, that trip would have been at least a week.
Anyone else have a feeling that 2016 has GOT TO BE BETTER than 2015?
-
I'm so happy that it's raining (though parts of the state are flooding). We really need the precipitation!
-
hi girls!!!! Just checking in. Lots and lots to read!!!!!!!! Hope all is well. Xo
-
Hi all...getting ready to go in hospital for my surgery. Just wanted to let you know how my RO appointment went yesterday. She is pleased with how I have healed etc. But she said that given all I have been through in the past two years...three surgeries, chemo twice, radiation...I should be off work at least another six months. I need to give my body time to heal, and emotionally this has taken a huge toll. My job is a stressful one and I should not go back till I am 100%.
Yes-haw! I have no problem at all staying off work till at least May.
Off to get my insides cut out...
Andrea

Hope it goes well, Andrea! Let us know when you're able.
My PT worked over my radiation side and I feel so much better! ROM! Yay!

I am so thankful for this group and I never fail to get a laugh and feel accepted and understood coming here.
Jen, errgghhh the spaghetti meat hilarious, not really, but ya' gotta' admit it will be a memory forever. It could have been worse, umm I think. Idk I dont eat meat myself. I'm sure my GI tract has survived some nasty seafood that I dont know.
Lynne, so sorry about work gossip and rudeness. Ya' know I've been there and was grateful for your support. I'm in healthcare and you can't imagine the level of discrimination I have endured and continue to endure. Mostly it is ignorance and just plain meanness. I don't talk about my illness at work, I don't expect compassion or special treatment. I've learned to not share much with my new coworkers and im pretty guarded with getting close to anyone at work. What I do and everyone shoulf expect and demand is to be treated humanely. I am a human being and part of the organization. I do damn excellent work, treat everyone fairly, have a great sense of humor and refuse to give up or back down. I have, and all of you have, a right to your career. I had to get HR involved in my situation last spring and I chose to relocate into an office position when I came back. It sucks! but my pay is the same, the coworkers are decent but incredibly ignorant. A pregnant coworker, I believe, has been puking in the bathroom and a coworker actually approached me and asked if I was sick and puked in the bathroom?!! Really!!! I laughed and said "not that I'm aware of should I let you know if I do?" Then I changed the subject to something else. I was angry but determined to not allow it to get to me. I am hanging on here as we just merged and as I get healthier and stronger hoping to get back using my clinical skills and transfer into patient cancer treatment. If it wasn't for that opportunity being a possibility would have moved on. And it is a small town so anywhere I move on would mean a 30min commute. We shall see. I'm being patient and good to myself and focusing on family, true friends, and me!
So much I could and would love to comment on but would take forever. And I've gotten pretty windy.

Hi - quick note to say thanks for the feedback. My class this week has been keeping me very busy, not a lot of time to do anything but pay attention and study, so this is the first chance I've had to catch up on posts.
I may try to get a little more info from my co-worker before taking to the manager. It may have been a totally off the cuff statement from someone who doesn't even know me, so I don't want to make a big fuss. I'm taking this class to get my PMP, then I'm going to hit the job search (internally) hard in January (when I have more hair) and get out of my group -it's not a positive organization.
I love being back to work, though. It's like riding a bicycle, and it makes me feel so normal. Until I remember I look like my brother if he were 40# heavier.
Andrea, thinking of you - hope you check in with the "all good" soon. I know how you feel about being through the ringer - I've been telling everyone that this is the end of my health crisis decade. It started when I was pg with DD2 - they discovered that she had a brain anomaly when she was in utero (long story, but she has a cyst in her cerebellum and was born with PHACE association), then DD1 was diagnosed with T1 diabetes, then last summer DH got babesiosis and was in the ICU for 3 weeks (part of which he was on a vent). then I got diagnosed and have spent this last year being treated for cancer. I'm done! I feel like someone gave me Munchausen syndrome :-)

K- beautiful. Classy and effortlessly elegant. Except we all know.... There was a lot of effort. Our little secret.
Like Dolly P said in Steel Magnolia's "it takes WORK to look like this!"
-
ksusan is looking HOT, it must feel good to look so normal :-)
-
ksusan, yr a babe! Hey, let's all post pix of us looking how we feel best, want to? I know I'm having self esteem issues...maybe seeing my sisters lookin great would lift us all up? Just a thought...
-
Hi all...
Surgery went well and I am home. Having a fair bit of pain, but good drugs help with that. Apparently my uterus was huge with tons of fibroids..l know, TMI. But the surgeon managed to remove it vaginally, assisted by a laparoscope. Yay! No more scars!! If my ovaries hadn't come out too, it would have been an open incision.
Oh Lynne, you have been through so much...hugs!!! Things can only start getting better
Ksusan - what a great photo! You look amazing!
Littleblue, I like your idea of posting pics of us looking our best...it will be a while before I am looking good though...
Andrea
-
Looking good ksusan! You have a glow of confidence! It is reassuring to see we can morph back into our beautiful selves.
Jen, sounds like a great plan. I will post either Monday from Chicago's follow-ups or Thursday after Thanksgiving. We are going out to a restaurant for dinner and I will probably expend a great deal of time trying to impersonate a human being that resembles my former self.
By the by, could I have worse timing for my follow-ups in Chicago? It's 80 degrees here in Phoenix and Chicago is getting 5 inches of snow!!!!! That's it, I am packing up the sunshine in my carry-on bag.
Lynne and Renee, sorry about the work environment. It's one of the things I miss least being a work at home mom.
Renee, is my family going to freeze to death between Sunday and Tuesday. Actually, I am not afraid of the snow as much as the icy roads. Andrea, so glad your surgery was a sucess. I hope your recovery is quick so you can enjoy the extra time off work. By the way, I love that your healthcare team is so compassionate about time off. You HAVE been through quite the storm and should take the time to breathe.
-
Andrea, So happy to hear your surgery went well and was done laparoscopically.....I know you're glad to have that behind you!! Here's to a smooth and fast recovery!!
Positive: I wish we had the Livestrong program here, you make it sound really nice and beneficial. If we lived closer you could drag me to the gym. lol
Lynne, sorry to hear about the situation at work. Now that you are back and looking so great, surely everyone realizes that you're doing well!
Dizz, glad your hair is coming in, it will grow fast now! Sorry about your parents departure...hopefully having the house back to yourself will feel nice once you're used to it again.
Ksusan, you look absolutely smashing!!! Fabulous picture!!
Would love to see pictures of everyone! It will be awhile before I'm there though.....almost all my lashes and brows fell out a couple of weeks ago....and I can still see scalp through my silver hair! I'm starting to see some darker hair come in now. Tiny little lashes are coming back in too. I'm learning the art of drawing the brows, but am not very good at it. The powder pencil works great, if I could just get them even. lol
Its a gorgeous day here..sunny and in the 60's. A friend and I are going to get out and enjoy the day and then go to dinner.
Hope you all are enjoying the weekend!!
-
Hey Dizz, have fun in the snow! I love it, but we don't get it very often down here. I grew up in S. Illinois in a tiny town which had no snow plows....and snow to me always meant a day off from school, so I have fond memories of it. lol
-
Andrea- so happy to hear surgery went well. 💗
-
Thanks for the compliments! My eyebrows are thinning but now nobody's looking at me anxiously so it doesn't register for them.
I had a conversation with a woman at Zumba who was so offensive and weird about cancer that I just kicked into, "Poor woman. She ain't right."
We are having a sunny, cold day. Perfect for working the sleeves and gauntlets by moving books back onto the cases now that the new sofa beds are in and my wife has moved the book cases back into place. Folks coming in half an hour to take old furniture and sheets to donate to the women's shelter. We are continuing to get ready for Thanksgiving and will start making gluten-free, walnut-free, low-sugar oatmeal cookies soon. We have had tea and chocolate. I'm within a pound of my weight on the morning of my February surgery. Ducks are up 31-14 at the end of the first half. What's not to like about my life?
-
Yowza, ksusan!! You look great!!
-
Thank you. I attribute it to clean living, judicious use of chocolate, and Zumba.
-
Yup. I have hair like Christopher Walken.
-
Hey, hair is hair! Looks cute! Cuter than Christopher by a long shot.
My favorite Walken: https://youtu.be/XQ7z57qrZU8
-
your eyebrows are WAY better than his
-
hair is hair Jen! It is growing!!!!!
Andrea, Glad the surgery is done and it could be laparoscopic. Glad you get more time off too.
Lausanne, looking great!
Dizz, bummed about your parents, but hopefully you can move forward now in your own way. We have that snow here.... Brrrrrrrrr.... And the icy roads are no fun!
Renee and Lynne, sorry about the work environment. How frustrating!!!!
Here's s picture from Vegas. Most if you saw it on Facebook. Bi had just finished that half marathon. It was cold with 30 mph winds and 50 mph gusts! And rain. In the desert. In a drought. But my hair looked the same at the finish as at the start..... A bonus of this short hair.
I gambled less than $20 but won $50 on the penny slots. My shirt sleeves were tied with ribbons...one pink for my friend still in chemo for breast cancer, and one zebra striped for my friend in chemo with neuroendicrine cancer. April 15 gals was a hash tag on the back of my shirt. You all came with me
-
Gosh... you all are gorgeous! Jen - you have eyebrows and nice ones at that. Your hair is just fine, girl. Stop fussing. Ksusan and Kbee - the confidence shines through. Send some over to the rest of us!
-
Walken video -- hah!
Jen, beautiful hair, and kBee, beautiful smile!
-
I heart mr. Walken! You should of seen me and my puppy dancing along to that video! Also, he's a sexy man. I'm glad we share a hairstyle!
Kbeeeeeeeee! Thanks for taking us with you on your run! Lookin Good!
Positive- yes ma'm. Lol. Xoxoxoxo

It's a magical winter wonderland.
