Goldie you will be in my thoughts

Another reminder that we are not having the potluck get-together on Nov. 21 and instead it will be in January~~date to come.

Goldie, hope for the best! I have had two lumpectomies since July and was more nervous the second time thinking the margin could be positive again. One of the things I have learned since my DX is that there are things I can not control, there are also these that I can, take things one at a time. There is a healer in everyone, never give that up! Mind, body, spirit. I just had my first counselling at BCCA today to deal with anxiety, also have re-visited my diet (I have been eating a lot of organic foods for more than a decade, but now am minimizing animal-based foods, vegetable oils, and focusing on plant-based whole foods), doing the exercises that make me happy and relaxed. I am taking Chinese herbal (prescription) med as well as nutritional supplements (incl. multi, Vit D, C, B complex, melatonin, digestive enzymes, CoQ10, Grapeseed extract, fish oil), did some juicing when the weather was warmer but now find it too cold for my system, and also started coffee enemas to detox (the liver) after much hesitation (I am sensitive to caffein but enemas seem fine! Some people I know have been doing them and seen improvements in their overall health).
A lady who visits the same natural-path office recommended the following to me, some of them I had come across before my DX:
*Netfix documentary FORKS OVER KNIVES
**YOUTUBE documentary THE BEAUTIFUL TRUTH
***book A RACE FOR LIFE by Ruth Heidrich who was also diagnosed with breast cancer
****book THE CHINA STUDY by Dr. T.Colin Campbell (A present from my daughter years ago)
Have a good rest. You have my prayers!
-
Mariane: just found out why my DX etc was not visible because it needed to be turned to public from private! Just another example that there is a lot learning for BC!
-
Hi ladies,
Just wanted to keep you ladies updated. The last few days have been hard. Monday, had the injection and scan. Oh boy that injection. It really hurts even though it was only for a few seconds, but it hurt. Then Tuesday I had to have a fine wire put on because the lump could not be felt. Oh boy again, that was more pain for about 30 minutes. That was not nice. The surgery itself went fine and today I have been taking it easy. Luckily I don't have much pain from the surgery but my boob is blue as well as my urine. Now the wait starts. That will be painful.
BeachLife, I have thinking about revisiting my diet a bit, but I normally have a healthy diet. I do not eat organic though. I might have to change that.
Thank you all for your good wishes. I'm back from two days of being out of commission. Now lots of rest. See you all!
-
The blue urine vanished in a couple of days but the boob a couple of weeks for me. Take care!
-
Godlieone, thanks for the post and glad it is all behind you. Like you say, lots of rest and really do take it easy!
-
Went to my doctor today as my shoulder has been bothering me for about three months.. Finally "bit the bullet" and went to find out if "it" was back. Relived to find out it is "only" bursitis. So now no using my arm..see a orthopedic surgeon in a few weeks hopefully he will give me a cortisone injection. I have been going to massage therapy as well as acupuncture.. Helps the rest of my body but not my shoulder
-
Ossa: I can imagine what a relief it was to rule it out as a BC-related problem, and there are ways to fix it! Living with BC in the background is such a life-changing experience, you simply can not undo it. Mammogram did not find my tumor, I do not even know why I should do it in the future. In the States, women with dense breast tissues can do MRI paid by insurance, but not here. I may have to do MRI in another country out of my own pocket.
Take care!
-
Ossa, hope that you are able to get treatment that helps for the bursitis and that there is improvement sooner than later. I stupidly stood on our dining room table yesterday to take out a lightbulb and slipped and fell~~could have been much worse but possibly sprained my ankle. Oh, well, time to learn how to slow down a bit.
Goldieone, hope you are healing well. BeachLife, I know how hard it for those of us with dense breasts. Mine were small and dense and my mammogram 7 months before I found my own lump said "come back in 2 years." It was frustrating at the time but now I just know that nothing is infallible.
Potluck get-together was postponed in hopes more of you who are in active treatment and/or surgery can come. I would like to propose Saturday, January 9. Please let me know how that looks. I sent an email to the list from last year but two bounced back and it may be that I can't read the writing. but Carrie 61 and also Darlene (not sure of BCO name).
Namaste,
Marian
-
Ossa, good to hear that it was nothing related to BC. Like BeachLife says, we will live in fear that any symptom could be related and also if it will come back.
This past week after the surgery has been OK for me. I'm at my daughter's house in Maple Ridge and they are taking good care of me. Seeing my granddaughter every day with that beautiful little smile makes me really happy and a big hope for moving forward and fighting for the things that I want and hoping that we don't have to go through this trauma again.
January 9 so far looks good to me. I have this Thursday (if the results are in) the appointment with the surgeon and then she will tell me what are the next steps according to the results.
-
Marian - I would love to attend the potluck lunch - but will be away on January 9th - any chance of doing it on January 16 or 23?
-
How are you doing Goldie??
Any news??
Kosh
-
Marianne, I have been chatting with Carrie. She is out of town. I told her about January 9th.
Kosh.
-
Marian Jan 9th works great for me..the odds my husband will surprise me with a tropical holiday for Christmas are almost nil. Like really nil lol so I will be there with bells on.
-
marian I may be able to make it this time lol if the date is set for Jan 9 I will request a vacation day from work just wish I had weekends off to be able to attend things
-
Hi Koshka,
I leave in about 20 minutes to go see my doctor. I called yesterday and the results had not arrived so hopefully they are there now. She still wanted me to go to see her today as she will be away for a week and wants to see how I'm doing after the surgery.
Keep you posted.
-
Anamerty I looked for you today~~the lines were fast but it was nuts inside! It will be January 9 as it seems that most people can make it that day. It would be great if you could get the day off and come and join us! I am sending you at PM.
GoldieOne1, keep us posted and am hoping she had the results. My BS only got my results the morning of my appt.
-
Hi Marian,
Same as you, she got the results the same day, so that was a relief. Well, very good news. They took out 4 nodes and they were all negative. The margins all around were negative too, except there are a few cancer cells at the base, where the lump was sitting, close to the muscle. She explained to me that these cancer cells that remain are non-invasive so there will not be a possibility of them infecting the muscle and there is no need to go back in again and scrape them off. She has referred me to the BCCA and an oncologist will be in touch with me for an appointment to start radiation. I think these are the best news that I could have had.
Not sure when I will be starting radiation but she thought that most likely it will in the new year, so I think for sure I will be able to attend the pot luck on January 9. Just let me know the details once you have them.
-
Goldieone1, good news indeed. PM me about the radiation oncologist~~you should have a choice and if I had not been so stressed my first appt. with my RO, I would never have stayed with him. So glad we will have a chance to meet you.
Marian
-
Goldieone1: You must be very relieved that the nodes and margins are negative. I must admit that I am a bit confused about the non-invasive remaining cancer cells at the base, does it mean that this side of the margin is not clear? Does non-invasive mean there are DCIS cells? Sorry for my questions as I had a margin issue that took a while to sort out.Still can not see your DX. Take care!
-
Hi BeachLife,
Thanks for your question. It is fine to ask and I appreciate that because it also makes me understand more about this issue. I just listened to the recording that we made of the appointment and she was saying that the deep margin is pre-cancerous. Pre-cancer doesn't grow into anything and that basically at the moment I am cancer free. The radiation will help me get rid of any cancer or pre-cancer cells in my breast. Hope this helps.
I haven't added my diagnosis yet. I was waiting until I got the results to add them. I'll try to figure out how to do that in a bit. Take care and can't wait to meet you all on the 9th!
-
Doldie, It is good that you seem comfortable with your surgeon's explanation. I don't know about pre-cancer cell behaviours, and it sounds like they are counting on RO to deal with that. I have been advised by all the "veterans" (esp. in the States) that always get a second or even third option even though it is not as easy here with our healthcare system as in the States. I found (through a naturopath) a clinical prof. and med. oncologist who does that in Vancouver. I am in no way to alarm you, but to me to learn before is often better than after. You can PM me if you are interested in the contact info. It is also covered by MSP with a referral from your GP. Take care!
-
4 years cancer free
-
Ossa: Congrats! Enjoy! I will say that in 4 years! Take care!
-
Yay Ossa!
-
beachlife
we will be here to celebrate your four years with you
-
Marian reading through the thread most woman thankfully are beating cancer that warms my heart. I on the other hand am stage four so I may feel a bit awkward doing the pink ribbon thing at your potluck. Thanks for the invite but I think I will bow out this time. It's a balancing act I'm happy for all of you but my situation is different. Wishing you all the best hugs to all.
Wendy

Wendy3 have you seen this? 18 months -->18 years. Take care!
