ultrasound results birad 4 likely fibroadenoma

Hi All!

So I have been reading these boards for comfort the last week for support during the testing process. Finally had an appointment today with a breast surgeon. She said the results read a Birads 4 but likely fibroadenoma. I am going back Monday to schedule appointment to get lump removed because it is large ( 3cm). I felt better when every doctor I have seen seemed just about positive it was a fibro but the higher birads score scares me. It's like I had 5 minutes to be stress free and now the anxiety is back again. 😩 All this waiting is taking a toll on me.

    The Bi-Rads 4 covers huge territory, from 3% to 94%, so if they are pretty confident I wouldn't be terribly worried. Sounds like they are thinking you are on that very low end. If they gave you a Birads3 Your insurance probably wouldn't pay for it as that is a "biopsy not recommended."

    Just wanted to update on what's going on. I met with my BS on Monday and having an excision biopsy on December 16 ( her first opening). I also found out my radiologist rated it a BIRAD 4.1 not a usual score from what I have read but she said its a very low score. So now more waiting. Blah. Just want this to be over.

    I had to get a follow-up mammogram, with ultrasound, found a mass of 15mm. Radiologist findings BIRAD 5, had biopsy on my left breast, and the did a biopsy of my lymph nodes, will get my results on Monday 11/23. Not to mention, Cancer runs in my family on my mother's side. My son died 10yrs ago from ALL. What are the chances of the mass being malignant?
