Hello, About 7 months ago, I found a pea sized lump in one breast. (38 years old) For a couple of months before I found the lump, I would have periodic pain in that breast (it reminded me of the pain with a clogged duct). I went to my OB, and he could feel the lump and he sent me in for a mammogram and ultrasound. The mammogram didn't show anything, but they did say I had moderate to severely dense breast. The ultrasound didn't show anything either. My doctor said that if it was bothering me, I could visit with a surgeon. The surgeon could feel the lump, and said it felt like normal breast tissue, and didn't recommend surgery or anything else.

About 1 1/2 months ago, I found another lump in the same breast, I went back to my OB, he felt the lump and sent me in for another ultrasound. He also said that I have very fiberous breast tissue. The ultrasound didn't show anything, and the radiologist told me that the ultrasound was a good image and she could sea to the chest wall. She recommended that I keep an eye on it.

Now, I feel like I've found another lump in the same breast. I have another appointment with my OB next week. I have periodic pain in that breast and sometimes it seems to be around the time I ovulate until after my period (I started tracking the days that I felt pain and how severe it is). Sometimes I'll feel the pain in my armpit as well. I tried cutting out caffeine, but I can't tell if it helped with the pain or not.

Has anyone hear had similar experiences? I'm not really sure how to move forward...

Thanks!

    Hello,

I have a lot of small lumps in my breast due to severe fibrocystic changes. In addition to cutting the caffeine, try adding Vitamin A and D supplements. Works well for me but not everyone is the same.

Nonetheless ALL lumps need proper evaluation. I live in a country where it's easy to get MRIs for breast, but I understand that it's really not easy in the US. If Mammo and US aren't showing anything,
see if you can find the way of exploring a MRI request.

Thanks, I do take a multivitamin and vitamin D supplements. I was curious about adding in Evening Primrose oil as I've heard that can help.

What are the benefits of an MRI? Does it show areas of concern or can it rule out cancer?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

It does show more, the problem is that it shows many things and if you're not dealing with an experienced breast radiologist, it can be like opening up Pandora's box. Still it can help to assess small areas not seen on other imagery.

Primose rose can help. I use it too. However, what I have found to really help is a 30 min lymphatic breast massage done by a therapist. It helps my lymph circulate and not to clog up. Moreover it's good for releasing toxines. It's about 75 dollars per week in Europe, which is an investment but a worthwile one. My therapist is American, she's really good and understanding.

Alicki- This is a really late post, but I did receive an MRI. It showed a 4mm cyst. I do continue to have pain in the breast and at through the armpit. It isn't a consistent pain, but just when I think I can relate it to my cycle, it will last longer then completely disappear for a week or month. Maybe this should bring me reassurance? I've spoke to a lot of my female friends and none have had experiences like this (whereas my ob says this isn't uncommon). I recently did some more research on lymphatic breast massage, do you ever do the massage yourself (is that advised?). I haven't found a therapist for this yet, but am starting the search.

    Thanks!
