Any Jewish women here?

I know there are a lot of us here who are Ashkenazi Jewish (and unfortunately, quite a few with BRCA mutations). Many of us are in interfaith marriages too. But the “Older Middle-Aged Christian Women” topic got me to thinking: what different faith traditions (Haredi, Hasidic, Orthodox, Modern Orthodox, Traditional, Conservative, Reform/Liberal, Classical Reform, Reconstructionist, Humanistic, etc.) within Judaism are represented among us? Do we turn to prayer or congregational community to see us through the hard times as well as to keep us spiritually satisfied? Any favorite prayers, hymns or songs? Anyone wanna “kvel"l with “nachus" about the “mishpocha?" (Apologies to those Sephardim here--not sure what the equivalent idioms are in Ladino), And of course, RECIPES!

As you know, ChiSandy, I'm Jewish, married to a husband who is not only Christian but is musical director for his church. Grew up in a reform tradition, not currently affiliated. Certainly I am thinking hard about these things as my radiation treatment starts in a long crescendo that encompasses Hanukkah and ends a couple of days before Christmas (both of which we celebrate). The December holidays this year are going to be a challenge! I find myself looking forward more to Passover, when I expect to be healed from rads, for the most part, and *hope* still to be NED.

Last night, walking to the subway from the hospital, I realized that I was passing, on the same block, a library, a synagogue, a fire station, and a police station. A powerful lineup!

Great idea for a thread. Like so many, I strive to find any connection that helps to make sense of this experience or even just to get through it!
