hello. I'm in the same situation as you. I have an indentation on my right breast. My doctor could not see it but it is very obvious in natural light. I had an ultrasound last week. Going on Wednesday for results. I don't have anything to offer except to say I feel your anxiety!

Hi all update re appointment today. I am getting an mri yay. I had to really self advocate to get doctor to agree, but got there in the end. The doctor agreed invasive lobular cancer can be missed on mammograms and ultrasounds, but still didn't want to do an mri. I explained politely but firmly that I wasn't happy with doctors guessing what was causing the indentation I wanted an answer that I felt confident in. He suggested the indentation and lumpiness could be caused by age. Arrrgh nope I wasn't having any of it. He then suggested a needle biopsy, but needs to discuss with the consultant first. He then came back to say the consultant would rather an mri be done first to give a clearer idea of where to biopsy.

So another 2-3 weeks for appointment to come through and then another week for results. Its okay as at least I should have some answers.

It is very frustrating how much I need to push to get an answer I am happy with. Still hoping it has a simple benign explanation.

    Thank you all x

Ok update from MRI today, before I went in radiologist explained the procedure I was to have both a normal MRI and a contrast on both breasts. He explained that he could not discuss any results with me and that an appointment would be sent by doctor who referred me. ( I already have an appointment booked for the 8th Dec) MRI carried out as radiologist was taking out canula he gave me this look and said "You do have a follow up appointment don't you? I said yes of course! Maybe I am reading too much into it, but beginning to get scared!

Now a long wait until the 8th Dec urrgh not good.

Busymum, can you call the doctor office to see if they can work you in earlier than December 8? It seems a long time to wait for results. I'd call and let them know you had the tests and would like the doctor to go over results asap. It can't hurt to call and ask. And I know it's not easy, but try not to read into anything the radiologist said or did.

Please don't read anything into his comment. It could mean something profound...but it could just mean "since I'm not giving you your results, I want to make sure that somebody is going to give them to you."

Really no way of knowing. I know you'll worry, but try not to borrow trouble that might not be yours (unless/until it lands on your doorstep, of course).

Hoping for the best for you on the 8th!

TheDivineMrsM I will ring tomorrow and hopefully I can get the appointment brought forward. I know I shouldn't read into things. He just seemed quite blase before MRI then all serious after...hopefully its just my paranoia 😁 x

LisaAlissa you are so right...thank you x

Hi mothertime I have 7 children all together (2 are grown up and left home) the twins were a complete surprise :-) I feel so blessed having them. I do have an amazing family we are all so close. I also have 5 grandchildren and another 1 due in March 2016. Its a crazy life but I love it, due to return to work in April 2016 as I took a full year maternity leave as I always regretted returning to work early with my others and I certainly won't be getting any more surprises. Grandchildren are wonderful. I hope you get your answers soon and wishing you the best outcome.

    Hugs x

hi everyone I have my appointment next Tuesday for results of MRI, but in the meantime I am driving myself nuts with worry (yes I know I shouldn't). I have further indentations all on the same breast not as big as original indentation, but all running in a line.

I have been trying to research b9 breast conditions that could be causing this, but I can't find anything. If anyone knows or has had something similar I would love to hear from you.

I have this impending sense of doom Tha my whole world is going to come crashing down. I have tried to be really positive so not to worry family, but I am seriously losing the plot.

    Praying for a b9 result.

    Tha in advance x

Busymum, even if your results turn out not benign, it's not the end of the world. Cancer is a scary word, but it is treatable. Even many Stage IV ladies live many years with their Cancer. New treatments are being developed all the time. My MO said to me, even if the cancer comes back in 5 years, there will likely be new ways to treat it

Busymum, take some deep breaths. Find some things to do that offer a distraction you can focus on until Tuesday. Try to stay away from Dr. Google.Stay in the moment as much as you can. You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope always the best results for you. Hang in there.

    Sjacobs and TheDivineMrsM

Thank you for your kind words it helps during this stressful time. I think I feel worse because I am a control freak :-) and at this moment in time I don't feel in control. Whatever the outcome I will deal with it and be okay I know this deep down, its just the not knowing. I look at my children and know I will do everything possible to be here to watch them grow up and become the fine adults they are going to be.

I just want to bury my head and it all go away! I also want to come back Tuesday and say yaay its nothing, its one of those things.....I will try and stay positive and not let worry get the better of me.

Sorry if I am a bit rambling and thank once again. Hugs to you all x

Yes, when it comes to health, there is only so much within our control. It is hard to be at the mercy of the gods, so to speak, and allow events to unfold as they will. In the 90s, I learned these things taking care of my aging parents and feeling helpless on so many levels to"fix" their health troubles.

One thing I read at the time was that dealing with this kind of uncertainty is like riding a wave in the ocean. You kind of have to go with the flow and learn how to balance as you navigate the water.

just a quick update hospital rang this afternoon and asked me to come in an hour earlier as the consultant wanted another ultrasound doing before I go in and see him. I have only seen his understudies' so far. Is it usual to have another ultrasound after MRI?

    thanks in advance x

Busymum, I have no explanation as to why they are wanting the ultrasound. Please ask when you arrive. Hoping you get some answers to your testing and that all goes well

Busymum, I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. I just wanted to share that I had a 2.1 cm tumor in the axillary tail and it was hard as a rock - very palpable (no indent) but the diagnostic mammogram, 3D mammogram, and ultrasound all said there was nothing there. They finally did an excisional biopsy and found it was cancer. Then they did an MRI (which probably should have been done before biopsy) and I got a call to go in for another ultrasound after the MRI.

For me...The reason they needed to do another ultrasound was because they found another suspicious lesion at a different place in the breast and they wanted to know if they could locate it by ultrasound to do an ultrasound/wire guided biopsy.

I opted for a second opinion at a comprehensive cancer center and you can see the rest in my history below.

I'm only sharing because mammograms and ultrasounds DONT FIND EVERYTHING! I too had to push for something diagnostic and I'm glad I did.

I truly pray that yours is benign but as others have said, cancer is not a death sentence.

    Good luck to you!

    Bekah

Not to worry you but lobular cancers grow flat like a stack of file folders and not so much a clear defined lump. They look like dense tissue on mammo. Because my invasive lobular was huge like a hockey puck it indented my breast. My breast was heavier to. Luckily they grow real slow and I perhaps had mine for ten years before diagnosis. 4 years of mammos missed it. A core biopsy found it. Ask to be numbed in the breast if they do this to make it more comfy. Lobulars are very treatable, tend to be big .

Here I am ten years later. Don't get overly worried yet. Put your energy into the twins. I'm an "over the hill identical"and I love my sis and she's my best friend! Twins forever power!

Your smart to be pushy when it comes to your health

TheDivineMrsM I am feeling very calm today 😁 I have decided what will be will be. I will certainly ask when I get to hospital why they want another ultrasound. You are a wonderful source of support and have really helped me on this journey so far.

Bekah thank you that helps to understand why the consultant wants an ultrasound before seeing him. Hoping I can come back and say yaay all the worry for nothing. I am so sorry you have been through so much and so young too.

hugz4u thankyou 10 years wow that is encouraging. I will ask to be numbed if a biopsy is needed, I think I am getting a wimp as I get older 😊. That is lovely to hear that your sister is your be friend. I have boy girl twins they have such different personalities chalk and cheese, but they are always reaching for each other and holding hands....that us when they are not pulling each others hair or pinching dummies.

Gentle hugs to you all xx

Hi all great news left breast is all clear consultant said all that can be seen on MRI is healthy tissue no sign of cancer. He thinks indentations are caused by breast ligament changes, but was honest enough to this was a guess. He reassured me having viewed numerous MRI scans throughout his career I was fine, if it was cancer attaching to skin it would be big enough to show up.

Ultrasound was for suspicious area on right breast between scar tissue. Ultrasound looked normal, but needs to be discussed with a panel of doctors to decide if we take a wait and see approach or carry out MRI biopsy. I am not worried about this as the know false positives can show up and consultant said he was certain the risk was low of it being sinister.

Gentle hugs to you all and thank you for being a great source of support. Wishing you all well.

I will keep updating if I have any further information x
