First couple of days after breast augmentation?
PLEASE EXCUSE THE TOPIC FIELD... ITS BREAST EXCHANGE SURGERY NOT BREAST AUGMENTATION.
My wife has her breast exchange surgery scheduled for Dec 8th to remove her TE's and put in 480cc ultra high mentor silicone implants with fat graphing. It so happens that her Herceptin treatment falls on Dec 9th... we talked to her infusion nurse and her MO both said it could be moved a few days to later in the week.
Is this something that she is going to be able to make in regards to pain wise? or do we need to discuss more with her doctor to maybe moving it from the 9th to the 7th (two days earlier) and the day before surgery?
thoughts?

your topic heading is kind of confusing. If you can alter it to say "exchange surgery" that sounds like what us happening. Most of us here don't get augmentation.
You really need to discuss the time line with her chemo team and surgery team. I'm not familiar with herceptin or it's effects but post exchange- many people are sore for a few days and are limited to activities and range of motion. Drains, etc. Sometimes they feel great. It really depends on how her surgery goes and how she usually feels with chemo treatment. Just some advice- encourage her to take it easy and not rush her healing process.
Best wishes.

I would agree that you need to discuss this with her treatment team. Short delays in treatment should not be a problem. And, as posted above none of us are having augmentation after mastectomy. We are having reconstruction and exchange surgery. Augmentation is having implants to make the natural breasts larger. Both use implants but are very different things.

you know what you two are absolutely correct. She is having her exchange surgery (TE's out and implants put in)... she had her reconstruction when her double mastectomy was done and her tissue expanders where put in. (any idea how to change the topic field in my post)
We plan on talking with her oncologist about this on the 25th.. was just wondering how sore she is going to be the day after/few days after the surgery and if there is any advice on how I may help make her more comfortable.
I hear you on helping her be taking it easy and letting the healing process takes its course. I plan on taking the whole week off from work to be with her and since the kids are alittle older and she is a stay at home mom that should help her take it easy. let us pamper her...that's what we are here for.

Amstar - if you can't edit the title send a message to the Moderators and they may be able to fix it. I have had exchange surgery and a TE replacement surgery during Herceptin, but was fortunate to be able to schedule those surgeries right after infusion, so had almost three weeks before needing the next infusion. I have also had fat grafting about a year after the last Herceptin. Your wife would probably feel fine to receive her Herceptin infusion shortly after exchange surgery, but what may make her more uncomfortable is the fat grafting combined with exchange. How uncomfortable she is will most likely depend on how much fat is taken from the donor site - that is the uncomfortable part, not so much where the fat is grafted. I have seen some others who have delayed a Herceptin infusion - up to a week or so - for a variety of reasons, with no problem. I would check with your MO to see how many days they are willing to delay. Good luck!
