Name that Movie

Sas, Maureen O'Hara and Barry Fitzgerald in the Quiet Man
-
Music Lover - Sorry I went grocery shopping, turkey and trimmings. Yes my name is Laura and my dad was particularly fond of the movie theme song.
I had not a clue about the Quiet Man. Is the one above still the Quiet Man or a new movie (that I still have no clue about)?
-
Laura, I love your name. No not the quiet man, you are too funny though. How old are you? I'll be 52 next week, whoo-hoo. I do love movies. The trick is to recognize an actor in the picture or two or three, etc. and then google if necessary.
-
I think it's Grapes of Wrath with Henry Fond
-
Cheating but DH knew 2 of the 3 in the picture above. I have not googled yet but might. I'm 63 but the movie Laura is way older 1944.
OK I cannot find this. DH says this is Tyrone Power and Henry Fonda but for the life of me the only movie they made together (considering Tyrone Power died in 1958) was Jesse James which I'm pretty sure this is not. Hopefully someone else will come on who is better than me.
-
Uh oh just as I posted this DH found the picture. It is Jesse James
-
ML yes, Quiet Man, Barry Fitzgerald and Maureen O'Hara
I agree Grapes of Wrath, seriously tough movie to watch. Well now second look don't think it's G of W.
I'm lost on music, b/c I can't hear it. Makes it no fun. The instrumental is good, but words blur together.
-
I see Henry Fonda and Cornel Wilde 30 vintage maybe early 40's.
-
Jesse James 1939 - Tyrone Power, Henry Fonda and Nancy Kelly
-
So, close no cigar.........Cornel Wilde and Tyrone Power were very close in looks even when they aged on.............
-
Goats your turn..............
-
-
-
Americanizattion of Emily?
-
Close no cigar - yet! Though I do love that movie too.
-
It's a Good Life?
-
Luvmygoats. Not a clue, but is that Julie Andrews ? Ok, this is a cult classic......
-
HI1 ?????????????????
-
Yes, Jesse James.
-
Yes it is Julie Andrews. I'll leave it for a bit today in case somebody is lurking.
Don't think I've ever seen Harold and Maude. Should I?
-
Yeah, it really is a cult classic. Love story that goes against societal norms. It was radical for the time. Perhaps now too. His age was young. I remember the first time I saw it in my 20's, I was a bit shocked that it made it to the screen b/c of controversial topic. There again it was a radical time. I enjoyed it. Only have seen it a few times since. It was done well. Anything with Ruth Gordon. I've thought was good. She picked her roles well. I looked at the writer and director. Both had interesting projects. The director had some classics. If I wasn't cheap, I'd netfix it.
Took a relook at Ruth Gordons age when she did H&M, She was probably 74. Cool. Don't remember what her implied age was in the film. Even today we are supposed to be dried up and not interested in love and sex at a certain age.
-
Whoa there Sass!! You say WHAT? I'm 78, and STILL not kicked by the way-side....Ha! It's just so "different" to reach this age, which sounds abnormally "old" but not FEEL like it! Everyone thinks anything over 60 is "old".....
Believe me.... I'm just fortunate to think young, and feel 1/2 way good!
Do any of you remember Wallace Beery?
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000891/bio I remember seeing a few of his movies!
-
Chevy, lovey you missed my point. We know we are hot and interested, but generally society norms say we aren't. For example, one of my docs in doing a history when he got to his question on sexual activity(from his form). He said " Well we don't have to worry about this" I said "What?" Him "Sexual activity" Me " Several times a week" He was so funny as he sifted back through the chart, I knew he was looking for my age. The look on his face was priceless. The implied sexual activity between Harold and Maude was scandalous for the time even in the Flower Children era of free love.
-
Sas, the movie was quirky & somewhat inappropriate, probably why is became a cult classic. I got hooked on it mainly because of the music.
Ruth Gordon was perfect for the role.
-
-
Hin1, Harold and Maude (and yes, I looked it up)
-
World According to Garp------- Robin Williams and the guy from Third rock from the Sun
-
