Hysteroscopy after two years on Tamoxifen

I had one done prior to being diagnosed with breast cancer because of a pap smear showing abnormal uterine cells. The doctor who performed it was fairly certain nothing was going on afterward as he saw nothing of concern (and he was right - they were apparently caused by a reaction to my IUD although I had had it for several years with no problems). From what he said I would guess uterine cancer usually presents as a visible polyp or growth. I think from that if there was a problem and it wasn’t visible then it would be SO small and SO early that it would be easily treatable.

For what it's worth, my gyno had done a few endometrial biopsies on me (in her office, no anesthesia ). She'd drop the tissue sample into the cup and each time told me that it looked fine. She said she's done a lot of these biopsies and has a sense when there's a reason to be concerned. She was right each time. Later, when she removed an ovary with a cyst (unrelated to other problem) she also commented that it didn't look like cancer and she was right. I know that ultrasounds aren't perfect screening tools, but maybe when the docs say they think it's fine, then maybe that means it looks like normal, healthy tissue. (?) Not sure if this helps but FYI.

BTW, I can't believe you have to wait six weeks for test results. Waiting for results is so hard! Hope you're able to do something to take care of yourself today.
