edited November 2015 in Waiting for Test Results

I saw my doctor two weeks ago for a feeling of thickness and heaviness in my left breast. I am 47 y/o by the way. He referred me for a diagnostic mammo and US...which I had today. The radiologist did multiple enhanced views and then I went in for my ultrasound. The tech scanned me for quite some time and I had a feeling shekels seeing something because she was marking basically the "coordinates" for the area. The radiologist came in and scanned me then. When he was done he basically told me that my symptoms were presenting as ILC and there was an area he was seeing on urasound...which did not show up on my mammo...that was suspicious for ILC. He actually showed mE IT on ultrasound and it is more of a line that he found. He scheduled me for a core biopsy on Monday. He gave me a BIRAD of 4. Any advice would be appreciate! Extremely worried!

    Hi AmyBeth,

Waiting from what I can tell is the hardest part, and until you get the biopsy there is nothing to do but wait. I would say try to relax but since I know that is next to impossible just take it one day at a time. Hopefully you get beign results. Thinking of you.

    Dear Amybeth:

The waiting and worrying is extremely stressful and difficult.  However, if you are diagnosed then you can be treated.  That is a very good thing.  ILC is very difficult to find because it doesn't show up easily on tests.  ILC is a "sneaky" cancer.  However, hopefully, you will have a benign result.  80% of suspicious areas are benign and that is what I am praying for in your case.  Good luck.

Amybeth IMO you should also have a MRI before any diagnostic or treatment decisions are made. lLC is very hard to detect and MRI is the best tool. Remember most breast lumps are benign. They have to prove you have breast cancer first. Good luck and keep us posted.....
