Hi, I had a 6 mm tumor removed from my left breast last Thursday. I got the pathology report from my doctor's office yesterday when I went in for my check up. She told me everything was good, clean margins and no more surgery was needed. When I asked about the grade and treatment I was told I have to speak to the oncologist about that. My appointment isn't until November 23rd. The pathology report says the histologic grade is 2 and the Scarff-Bloom-Richardson's grade is 1/3. I haven't seen the SBR grade expressed this way anywhere I looked. Does anyone know what that would mean? The doc just went over the surgery with me but didn't go over the path report.

    Hi Swedge,

I am by no means an expert but did not want you hanging out there for too long as I know it makes you crazy and consumes the hours.

    This explains the scoring: http://www.ccrcal.org/PAQC_Pubs/V1_2013_Online_Manual/Part_V_Tumor_Data/V_3_5_8_Bloom_Richardson_Grade_for_Breast_Cancer.htm

It appears that your lesion was low grade (if you scroll down on the link) which is good news (1/3 is low grade, 2/3 intermediate and 3/3 high grade or aggressive). I know there will be others along shortly to help you decifer more but the above link should get you started.

Ok, I hadn't seen it expressed that way anywhere. That makes sense. How does the histologic grade play in then? Is it different than the SBR grade?
